Nuggets 1999-2000 Preseason Presser

Post by TheSyndicate »

The lights flicker and dim as the crowd looks around at eachother wondering what the heck is going on.

All of a sudden a faint tune quickly becomes more and more audible in the background and out walks

...is that? Could it be?
A voice bellows from back stage:"Ladies and Gentlemen, please welcome to the stage international recording superstar...PRINCE

After the performance, Nick Melon from the Charlotte Observer stands up and says: Prince, Princey, Princey-poo, I thought your performance was really great, especially the part where you dunked for the win and then offered us pancakes.

Anyways, are the Hornets players coming out at any time soon?

Prince: Nick, the Hornets players came out longer ago than I did - hahaha.

But seriously, this is the Denver Nuggets press conference. The Nuggets brought me in to oversee things this year, because of my predictive powers in my songs about this year. As I see it, they built a pretty solid roster last year so I've only had to make some minor adjustments.

They pushed the eventual champion Golden State Warriors to 6 games without their best player, Robert Horry, who was lost to a concussion 2 minutes into game 2 after banging his head against BowToTheBill's ego. We fully believe this team would have continued to shut down the Warriors and progressed through the playoffs without that injury.

Therefore our only priorities in the offseason were to stay under the salary cap and shore up our PG position. We traded our first round pick in this week draft class for Mike 'Deep Balls' Iuzzolino, and signed Brent Price a cheap expiring deal. Our 3/4/5 rotation is one of the deepest, most athletic, and best rotations in the game today with possible combinations of D-Rob/Kukoc/Horry, D-Rob/Kukoc/Spoon, D-Rob/Spoon/Horry, Kukoc/Spoon/Horry, with O-Reb god Jerome Williams filling in where needed.

We have almost no money on the books past this season, so we're rolling with the core we have, and then after that we'll tell them, the same thing N-Sync will tell us next year...Bye, Bye, Bye

Random Reporter: Well, you've pretty much comfirmed that the Nuggets will look different come this time next season. Are you hoping to find your next key player later on, or will you be looking for deals throughout this season?

Thanks for your question!

I won't sacrifice success this season for youth, as I think if I make the playoffs, I'm a dangerous team to gameplan against.

However, I'm always looking to improve the long-term health of my club, and I will be willing to pursue deals to bring in a special player on the right deal.

Nick Melon; Charlotte Observer: While Prince is awesome and rocks the stage anytime he performs, what can fans expect from this Nuggets team when you've been open in the media about selling some of your higher priced roster members.

With an extremely deep Western Conference, at which point would you consider blowing it up?

Fair question, Sir Nicholas. However, that was our previous regime. Prince is here now, and we're going to rule! The firesale is off. Unless, of course I'm blown away.

If we make the playoffs, we can win the championship. Realistically, if we are not within striking distance at the deadline, we'd be fools not to consider trading our expiring assets for future help. That being said, we have a team of very good players - and some great defensive players - if we don't receive compensation commensurate with their talent, we'll do our best to rack up them wins.

With the players you have, will you be putting out crazy depth charts to find the perfect spot for each players this year?
