2025 Draft Recap

Post by Conroy »

Let's start off with congratulating Quail with one of the highest lotto jumps I can remember. Congrats to him, it's not like I had the 11th and 14th slots and am upset at all for him with the 12th slot in moving up. Just great really happy for the guy, so awesome that I not only missed getting a top 3 pick, but as a reward moved down a slot. Good job Quail. Great, does anyone have any points I can borrow?

OK back to the draft, Bucks take De'Aaron Fox #1 overall. Lets take a look at the important stuff first...the name change. We have a few things going here De'Aaron Fox is an electrifying young talent in the NBA and was a great college player IRL. First thing this De'Aaron Fox has a 6 handle, not exactly simliar. But to balance it out this De'Aaron Fox is from West Paducah, KY. I'm not sure that's a real place I've been to Paducah, KY but have never heard of West Paducah. Well real De'Aaron Fox when to the University of KY and SLOE De'Aaron Fox grew up in KY so it's close enough. Now to the boring stuff he has an A potential in 4 areas and a B potential in 3 other relevant ones, combine that with solid ATH ratings (81, 53, 55) and Fox is an elite prospect. He'll need time to grow like all of these players do, but has the potential to be a special player...or the next Julio De La Rosa.

The Wolves select Luka Doncic with the second pick. The T'Wolves roster is currently pretty void of talent at the moment which is quite the over haul from just 2 seasons ago, a roster that won 50 games highlighted by Wiggins, Gobert, and Pfeffer. But that was then this is now. Doncic is essentially a slightly worse version of Fox. Except all the A's are B's the QKN is a little less, and shooting 3's and passing the ball do not seem to be in Luka's future.

With the 3rd pick the Cavs trade a quarter for 2 dimes and a nickel (#3 for #8, #11, #28). Going strictly by colors this will eventually be a trade of a blue potential player for 2 greens and a future player to be cut later. I could maybe have been talked into it, if it was 8, 10, 11. But the Cavs roster is full of young unrealized potential, I would have liked to see them turn the #3 pick into more of a win now player instead of more young guys. I don't hate the move going for depth, but these rookies take so long to develop that adding MORE of them could be problematic. Bucks select Jarren Jackson a 19 year old prototypical center with good INS, DRB, PSD, and strength.

Ok back at it after a short break. The Darth Perot Bobcats GM Ross Vegito selected Timo Cruz with the 4th pick. After awarding 382 media points in articles and such, 76 points in memes, and finalizing approximately 3.5 trades. Darth took the parrot out of the bird box and chose a guy based off a movie from from 2005...Timo "Don't call me Ted" Cruz. He better hope he brings Coach Carter with him to Charlotte so they can focux on academics and lock up the gym if they have to. Chad actually has an interesting roster, and I'm sure he's nowhere near done tinkering with it and I for one look forward to how he'll navigate from Luxury tax victim...THAT'S RIGHT I SAID VICTIM, back into a powerhouse.

With the 5th pick the Clippers selected a Strong Forward out of Rutgers named Colby Lopez. First off...I may be an easy troll target here, because maybe I'm missing out on some inside joke, but it's definitely Small Forward right? SF is Small Forward, or are the Clippers gonna change the landscape of positions and have Strong Forwards and Powerless Forwards? Either way Colby Lopez and his 100 FT rating will try to be the first SLOE player to shoot 100% from the line and he better or else I'm labeling him the bust of the 2025 draft.

The Warriors selected Mike Piazza with the 6th pick. He's got a lot to live up to as the namesake of one of the greatest hitting catchers of all time. Another Orange current but blue potential player, if he can have just a decent training camp he could potentially slot in as the starting PF for this team. The Warriors have an interesting roster and maybe ol Enes Kanter can mentor Mike he has good size, speed and strength for a PF once his Defense and Rebounding Ratings (all B's with an A in DRB) catch up to is 56 INS (A Rating) he should turn into a pretty complete player.

Only 4 more picks to round out the top 10 (most likely ending point anyway)

With the 7th pick the OKC Thunder select Nick Papagiorgio. Nick is a good all around PF who will specialize at offensive rebounding. Great QKN for a PF and strong too. He may be one of the more interesting prospects in the draft with a respectable 3 point game to go along with his ORB and Inside game. The Thunder will give him time to grow and he may have a shot at ROY due to playing time and having a green light as far as shot selection goes. The Thunder will be a year away from being a year away but once all of these young guys mature...look out.

The Cavs took Ed Monix with the 8th pick. With a blue potential player on the board the Cavs opted to use the 8th pick they acquired by trading away the 3rd pick on a 6-4 shooting guard who's greatest strength may end up being his ball handling and passing skills. He's not all that fast for a guard, has decent STR and JMP, has probably maxed out as a shooter already. I'm not saying just take the blue potential guy for the sake of the color, but I also can't say I've loved what the Cavs have done with this draft.

The Jazz are dying to be talked about, that's why they chose Slim Jenkins, gloating about being the smartest GM in the room selecting the last blue potential player on the board with the 9th pick. They now have 3 blue potential players on rookie deals that maybe...just maybe one day will grow up to be as good as purple/purple James Gebhart.

The Bucks fresh off trading all of their best picks to move up...wait somehow still have another pick and select Jarrett Allen. Another Quick and Strong PF with room to grow. He lacks traditional defensive skill, but will make up for it in hustle blocks and steals, His offensive game will take a while but he should be a productive player right around the time RFA hits and it's time to cash in.
