I think it's difficult because of what you allude to later on in this question: Supply and Demand. While I think point guards who can pass are valuable, there's been a transition in the league in terms of selling the house for this trait because it's rare, and some teams doubled down on that to acquire 2-3 guys who can pass. I think right now there's been a lot of panic by teams to move to more of a passing style offense and really every team in the league without a couple of these guyse has two choices: Overpay in terms of talent or buck the trend. I think in a few seasons you'll see the latter and you'll see general managers go big to combat the use of PGs and eventually lower that value.NOLa. wrote: Mon Jul 03, 2017 11:37 am Why do you think acquiring a PG is as difficult of a process as it is currently? Are PGs who can pass really that valuable, or is the perceived lack of these types of PGs causing the market to overinflated their value?
Do you think teams hoarding these players also play a role?

Right now we have Gordon slotted in as a 4 and Grim starting at the 3. Gordon has adequate size/speed/strength to play that 4 spot and the versatility to be a real matchup nightmare.WigNosy wrote: Mon Jul 03, 2017 11:57 am What sort of role do you envision for the Grimaldi Reaper this year? Also, with Hayward showing he can excel on the boards, has there been any discussion of running him at PF to create a small ball lineup?
The same thought that goes into getting quality players for nothing. None. It was a win-win as the Blazers didn't want the salary and we had the space and a spot for him to play. Is he making a little more than you'd want? Sure, but he'll play 35+ mpg, is a two way player is under 30. I'd say we're happy with him.Xist2Inspire wrote: Mon Jul 03, 2017 12:02 pm What was the thought process behind trading for Ish Smith? Not only is he a bit older than your core, but the general consensusaround the league is that his production will never quite match his pay.
