Post by ballsohard »

Good morning everyone,

Today we have GM of the 76ers BSH here to take place in our first AMA. Without further waiting, here he is.

Good afternoon 76ers and sim league fans. I agreed to do a AMA to the NBA fans since our pressers were turning into them anyway. A quick point to start. A lot of scrutiny has been placed on our organization for not insuring our players, which im assuming will be a hot topic here, and i wanted you to hear it from the asses mouth.

We didn't insure because frankly i dont think we should have to insure. The mechanism of training camp happens and players get better or worse. For most teams, after 31 players get killed, but for us we get 2 of our best players hit every year.

Frankly, im over it and im done paying points to help a game save it from itself. We're just going to save our points and invest it in the new system and go from there.

Despite what most people think, TC isn't "random", it's guided by something. I truly believe that after our 3rd consecutive year with 2/3 of our best players getting destroyed while watching the same team(s) thrive year after year. In short, im doing playing the game with TC. We'll just accept the3 consequences, and rely on our front office and coaching strategies to be able to make up for it, as we've done in the past.

With that i open up the forum to the fans!

Gary looks like a great 2 way player for us for a long time. I think he can make the All star game a few times in his career as well. I dont want to put limitations on him, but I'd probably put Gordon Hayward's ceiling a little higher but i think they'll be teammates for a very long time!

Why do you think acquiring a PG is as difficult of a process as it is currently? Are PGs who can pass really that valuable, or is the perceived lack of these types of PGs causing the market to overinflated their value?

Do you think teams hoarding these players also play a role?

What sort of role do you envision for the Grimaldi Reaper this year? Also, with Hayward showing he can excel on the boards, has there been any discussion of running him at PF to create a small ball lineup?

What was the thought process behind trading for Ish Smith? Not only is he a bit older than your core, but the general consensusaround the league is that his production will never quite match his pay.

I think it's difficult because of what you allude to later on in this question: Supply and Demand. While I think point guards who can pass are valuable, there's been a transition in the league in terms of selling the house for this trait because it's rare, and some teams doubled down on that to acquire 2-3 guys who can pass. I think right now there's been a lot of panic by teams to move to more of a passing style offense and really every team in the league without a couple of these guyse has two choices: Overpay in terms of talent or buck the trend. I think in a few seasons you'll see the latter and you'll see general managers go big to combat the use of PGs and eventually lower that value.

Right now we have Gordon slotted in as a 4 and Grim starting at the 3. Gordon has adequate size/speed/strength to play that 4 spot and the versatility to be a real matchup nightmare.

The same thought that goes into getting quality players for nothing. None. It was a win-win as the Blazers didn't want the salary and we had the space and a spot for him to play. Is he making a little more than you'd want? Sure, but he'll play 35+ mpg, is a two way player is under 30. I'd say we're happy with him.
