Offer Desired Option

Post by p_amour »

Suggesting that we allow this feature, as it is a feature in the game and it is something a team can do in real life, if they so please.

It also save the negotiator from entering all the those number, if a team just want to offer a player what he desires.

Interesting idea. I do think it should be discussed.

I don't see the harm in adding it. I'm for it.

Sounds fine and could save the inputters time. But under no circumstances would I allow "$10 over desired salary" or something like that.
I still got all my fingers but somewhere I lost my mind.

+1. We also aren't going to sit there and answer 100 question on what the desired contract actually is.

Wait, so what is essentially wanted is a blind bid? "Give him whatever he wants" arent there limitations with the way we do things? Lets say Player A wants more than Team B can give, but Team B wouldnt know that. Wouldn't they just be throwing away a bid? I mean the only other options I could see to avoid that would be to A) answer everyones question on what the contract is individually or B) announce everyones desired contract and both seem like theyd add more work. So I'm not sure what we'd be trying to accomplish by adding this option to Free Agency

It is possible to quickly (2-3 mouse clicks) dump player contract wants to a single (large) text file which could be pasted in the FA thread.

I'd vote NO on this process. I like how FA is handled now with the blind bids.

I'd vote yes on offer desired. I'm on the fence about dumping all the wants on a file though I guess if anyone had a concern about the inputters knowing what a player wants (that means you Quail!!) that would eliminate all doubt.

It would be a game changer.

Not sure how I lean on this one yet. I like any idea that can lessen the strain on inputters, but I like the idea of blind bids as it adds excitement to free agency in not knowing what teams may offer.

Plus this isnt a vote right now, just suggestions and hashing the idea out (something as a league we need to participate in more).

I think it'd have minimal impact at best.

I'm not entirely a fan of it. For a few reasons...

1) Who cares what they want exactly? The whole point of Free Agency is to outbid each other, not to blindly give a FA what they want. It adds an air of complete randomness to the game by no one knowing what the players want. Now you might say, "Quail, you can see it since you're an inputter." True, I can when I'm inputting. But I don't even look in the system until I PM my bids to The Negotiator. The other inputters follow the same suit (don't even look at PMs sent to Negotiator until all of our own bids are put in).
2) Part of Free Agency is that the GMs in this league set the price, not the player. Sure he may have a desired amount. But if he doesn't get that desired amount from anyone, tough tits for him. He'll pick from all the lower offers instead. I think, while it is convenient to have a button for desired contract, the onus needs to be on the GMs sending their offers to work something out on their team and how the contracts fit into a plan.

So excuse me if I disagree with the desire to have a simple out of "contract desired".

Just seems lazy to just send out 10 "Desired" bids, and we don't know how the game will handle it. I like the current FA. It's so much fun to see what teams pay for certain FAs, and obviously the instant regret I get after I pm my bids.

Speaking of experience, I even feel the regret of your bids.

I meant speaking from experience since in the past I instantly regretted some bids I submitted.
