Ok. A lakers/warriors trade? Very odd. I don’t know that I ever expected this given how many times Greeps has talked about how bad the offers he got from LTS have been. All things considered this one isn’t a LTS love fest. If I understand this trade right, it is basically Lister for a first round pick, points, and McCray going to the Bullets and Lakers. Where LTS gets a defensive big to help him against the Bucks and Greeps gets under the tax threshold. I love this for Greeple. I really think he has made a bunch of savvy moves to build his team this year. Getting McCray and points back for Lister who I think he’s fine with moving is a solid long term strategy, that doesn’t hurt him this year. Bullets get points for making the deal work. The one concern I have is the lakers are trading for depth at the bigs at the expense of depth at the wings. It’s a big swing looking towards the postseason. Will it work?

Bullets: A
Warriors: B+
Lakers: B (but could easily swing either direction based on results in postseason)

Portland's 1987 first-round pick (to Bullets)

Portland accepts this revised trade.
The best thing about the trade deadline passing is that the bullets can’t make any more moves. Seriously, I don’t know how he keeps doing this. It’s insane. He is my vote for GMOY for sure because of how many moves he’s made. I don’t even care if it works or not.

This deal boils down to clippers getting English, blazers getting some depth, and bullets getting a lot of points and John Salley.

Blazers have been wanting to move English, knowing he wasn’t right for the team. They got two bench players to round out their reserves. It was a smart move to expand their depth, but they are now running into Ralph Sampson in the playoffs and are looking down a 1-3 barrel to the #6 team. The Clippers were able to get another playmaker that was sorely needed. I really liked the idea of the move to stay relevant, they unfortunately it didn’t work out. I won’t completely negate the trade as it was a good move that in the moment I would have liked more than I do now seeing it play out.

Bullets: A++ (they got a lot of points and this is honestly a grade for the whole season not just this one trade)
Trailblazers: B-
Clippers: C+

SUBJECTIVE: This is a great idea for a series of posts, and as I did last season, I will award 3 points now as it is doing a good job of touching the entire league. Since the trade deadline hasn't happened yet, I am witholding the last point pending write-ups of all trades that happen through the deadline; and will award that point once all trades are covered.

TOTAL 9 points
You wrote up the trades that happened after this article was written. As promised, here is that last +1 point.

REVISED TOTAL: 10 points.
