Some *cough* @greepleairport *cough* would call me a LIGHTNING ROD for sim league. I either attract controversy, cause it, or help continue it along its controversial path. lol But seriously, I've been way more engaged since this rebirth of NPBSL than i was when I was running train on the old league in its waning years. The exception is last couple seasons maybe when life was just overall chaotic in May, June & July.... ironically I went to the Finals in both seasons. lol But I like to invest my energy in a similar response to the last Town Hall (5).. in DISCORD. I feel like that has done such a good job at maintaining my engagement and keeping me invested in the game & community, as well as being a great place to further friendships & make new ones through sim league.Mike Lowry wrote: Sat Aug 16, 2025 11:34 pm How would you describe your NPBSL activity?
How do you invest most of your energy?
What do you find most interesting or entertaining?
What is more of a chore, but necessary for competing?

1. Probably “too involved.”Mike Lowry wrote: Sat Aug 16, 2025 11:34 pm How would you describe your NPBSL activity?

I am chaotic with the occasional string of empathy, much like normal life. I like to act a fool, but make sure we're all still good. If I'm talking to Doug, it's all boner and whack it talk, with the occasional sydney sweeney (before she cancelled herself with her jeans) or aubrey plaza (who cannot be cancelled) meme/gif. If i'm talking to LTS, I try not to because his ideas/offers drive me insane, but on a second crack of trying to talk sim league we have great chats. Just gotta work through whatever opening salvo madness, first. How would you describe your NPBSL activity?

I am notoriously an inactive member. I've always been big on not needing points. I like letting the game decide who is the best each year. I was originally against the need for points and paid training. Let people get better through TC and let leg breaks nerf a random player every few years. For me, it kept me as interested as the next person who had time to devote to Sim League. Without the points for articles, people that only had time to submit DCs, draft, and do free agency could still compete.Mike Lowry wrote: Sat Aug 16, 2025 11:34 pm How would you describe your NPBSL activity?

Rules: 1 point if you give thoughtful answers, which I will award after the timer ends for responses. The timer ends for responses at the moment the corresponding week's Sim is run.
Note: Use approximately 5 sentences as your bare minimum for 1 point. If you write 3 long, complex sentences, you'll still get a point. If you write 5, 3 word sentences, you will not get a point. Don't @ me.
Due: Due by the deadline for sim 7

Clearly my activity has been up and down. Really depends on what's going on with work, definitely effed myself a couple of times by going too hard into some sim analysis (that never even ended up coming to be). I've tried to do some cool power rankings stuff, but it takes so much time, I've spent like probably 10 hours on it this year for no end product or points. The rest of the time I spend looking at other rosters and seeing where teams are at/if there's a mutual fit for a trade.Mike Lowry wrote: Sat Aug 16, 2025 11:34 pm How would you describe your NPBSL activity?

Honestly, I feel like I've been running at 75% max for a long time now. I can put a plan and a team together, but I struggle to put in energy everywhere else.
Teambuilding and theorycrafting. I'm always crawling through the index, looking at ratings, tendencies, potentials, efficiency, etc. to not just see what I may need, but to see what other teams may need or could use.
It's fun seeing how things unfold. Who breaks out, who flops, which franchises/GMs build legacies, etc. It's watching an alternate version of history play out that isn't totally random and unrealistic like 2K.
Writing articles and presser. You can't always count on generating points through team performance or trades, but points are THE single most important resource for seriously competing. So if you're not doing any of the extracurricular stuff we offer, you're only making things harder on yourself. Writing articles and pressers are probably the two biggest "bang for your buck" things, but writing takes time and effort
