Talk about a juicy day 60. Filled with trades, fights, bolstering up and throwing in the towel.
Fight! We'll start with the fight! In huge blow up fashion. We saw the....spurs and Mavs get into a little heated tax argument. It was good haha. Mavs have been calling out the spurs since last season and well it happened again haha. The spurs seemingly for the first time, decided to send a shot back and we may have gotten our meme of the year from it.
worthy back and forth.
Powering up - the heat and Mavs have been working on trades all week. Just waiting for the day 60 buzzer to ring so they could both capitalize on a weaker wide open conference push. Omega has the warriors out in front but it's not the type of dominance that the pistons have over it's conference. The raptors were slow to get out the gate but just ran off 7 straight. The time to strike was now and that's what the heat and Mavs did. Mavs USED the hawks to gangbang the magic into securing two big men. This will allow the Mavs to get into a more traditional lineup with DJ moving back to the 3. There's a sense of depth lacking with the Mavs so they will need to remain healthy. I do love the timing of the moves. Its early enough where they should build some cohesion and still push for 50 wins in the weakest division in the league.
The Heat like the Mavs, are doing moves at the perfect time to try and streak. The heat are battling against the warriors who were my odds on favorite to represent Omega in the finals. I'm not so sure I like the warriors above the heat now. The heat managed to bring in rebounding god Kuminga. The always reliable defending Wemby, AND they brought in versatility himself Tony Newland. I think the heat are my new favorite team to represent this conference now. I mentioned 3 studs the heat brought in while not even mentioning the situation they're coming into. Johnny Davis is currently averaging 25-6-7. I still think the heats best lineup is with JD at the 1. The Heat received some very friendly but quad benefiting moves from the Grizz, Suns and Lakers. Grizz seemed to do the heat a favor in taking points for a salary necessary dump. The Lakers traded Newland for 2 prospects but really 1 main prospect. And the Suns gave up Wemby for free to the grizz who forwarded it to the heat for free. I absolutely love this type of friendly deals that aren't league breaking, but also that helps a team make a push. If I'm the warriors I'm a little annoyed at the circle jerk, but at least there's still time to figure some things out.
Throw in the damn towel I mentioned Lakers and suns in the previous topic about trading players away. 2 very different situations. The Lakers made trades minutes before the pistons traded for ware in the off-season. They admitted at that time, they wish they hadn't. The offload of Newland was a way for them to start the teardown to get under the apron. The suns sold off Ingram and samples to the cats who can relist them both and maybe get more points from that deal by trade deadline. Ingram is the kind of depth the pistons had been begging for before the suns tanked. Wemby also left Phoenix in what secured the suns sell off and the move to get under the apron. Now it's just a matter of them resetting their tax while keeping the big 3 together. The team is still solid and those collection of wings will go off here to end the season as the only main 3 options. It should be a ticket selling finish down in the desert.
