2036-2037 Lakers Preseason Press Conference

Greeple taking the podium like

phpBB [video]

...Jeannie? That you? I thought you were like 20 years older than that but whatever get off my lawn I mean podium.

Now that my presser is thoroughly memed and hated, let's take a look at the Delmar Bias. I'm Biased for Delmar and Delmar'd for Bias.

Look, our BDJ backcourt is absurd (Bias Delmar...Jackhammer). And our front court is garbage, relatively speaking. How far can that take us this season? We'll berth the playoffs most certainly but beyond that it's hard to say. I've been blessed to not get bit too hard by the injury bug in my PBSL tenure, so I'm kinda thinking that's about to happen.

I'm confident this isn't the Lakers' year to dominate but we will foil anyone with a weak backcourt. We'll be a problem for strong backcourts. And Delmar - against my instructions - spent most of his offseason mowing dudes down, driving to the hole for buckets and And 1's. He even forgot to practice his free throws, like, come on dude, you more than doubled anyone else last season on trips to the free throw line, what are you even doing!

Becoming better everywhere else, that's what. Delmar can easily play the 2, 3, or 4 now, but will likely only need to play the 3 or 4 this year. As I mess around with the lineup, I'm pretty certain that BDJ will hold the one and Bias the 2. They could switch any time, but we aim to benefit from the floor general and playoff run killer that is BDJ while Delmar and Bias score all the buckets.

The real question is whether or not to start Pete at the 3 and Delmar at the 4, OR keep Pete as the best 6th man our team ever had...unless he heads out of LA to play a more pivotal role elsewhere in exchange for a super dope big.

Any questions?
Somehow I manage.

Sham Smith, Bulls.com: You've got about 90mm spent on BDJ and Len Bias, who both are naturally best suited for PG. If you could keep only one of them and have a do-over on the other 45 million, would you keep both, or would you keep one of them--especially knowing you had bird rights on Maravich that would take you through to round 3?

Chet Youbetcha, Dimmadome News: With the Thunder holding your first rounder this season, do you plan on moving a guard to improve your team overall and make that pick as bad as possible?

We wanted to make sure we had a solid point guard and knew the league would be throwing all kinds of deals Bias' way. We had to use our cap to nab a solid point and played a numbers game, sending many bids to PGs, and offering a very lucrative deal for BDJ was the one offer we knew we could land over other teams. That Bias signed with us was an absolute thrill! No disrespect to BDJ, but if we knew Bias was coming we probably would not have thrown this offer to BDJ, but having both? Creates many opportunities and options for us, first of which is letting Bias drop mad buckets. BDJ's PG skills are still better and, while Bias's PG skills increase, we love having BDJ there for now. Exercising bird rights on Pete also allowed us to focus on deals for bigs in stead of back up backcourts. Pete IS the backup backcourt and will be playing almost as many minutes as a starter.

We'll more likely move Pete or BDJ for the right deal, but not to screw you! Even if we don't move a guard I think that pick is likely garbage, but time will tell.

Let's say you were moving BDJ or Bias, which position would you prefer to move them for to give you a more well-rounded team?

Random Reporter: You mentioned that your frontcourt is lacking, but you also just released some big, including former star Joe Sherrill. In light of that, who are you looking to step up and fill the gaps?

Really looking for a trade. Sherrill is a great scorer but we have plenty of scoring talent between Bias and Delmar already. If the trade doesn't come, we don't have a shot at a 'ship which, for this season, is fine by me. But we need more rebounding and blocking talent at the rim, definitely.
Somehow I manage.

How far do you see the Lake Show making it this postseason? Are you worried about what would happen if there were injuries to your stars?

As it stands, not very far. We don't have front court talent to go all the way. And yes, injuries are definitely a concern this season. I feel like I've avoided the injury bug for a long time and maybe my time has come.
Somehow I manage.
