2033-2034 GM of the Year Nominations (Due 5/8 @ 11:59pm central)

The cultivation of a team's talent boils down to smart management in the front office. From drafting to making good trades to free agency, managing a roster’s skill-set, and managing a salary cap is not an easy job. Though the PBSL is mostly cyclical in terms of the power balance, the best general managers are able to keep their teams in the playoff picture year in and year out through proper management of their salary cap situation and close monitoring of how their team is built and fit together. But maybe some GM was able to completely flip a team, get out of the tax, and avoid a total rebuild while still being competitive. Whoever you feel deserves a nod, just make sure to break down why they deserve it.

Please break down why your nomination fits this bill and why your nomination deserves this award.

As always there will NOT be any prodding of other GMs or any general bitchassness in these threads. It will be deleted upon discovery.
To encourage participation this year, if you submit nominations* in at least 3/4 award categories this season, you can claim 2 points. If your nomination wins, you will be able to claim 1 additional point. Remember 1 nomination per GM per thread

*EDIT*

Taking commissioner prerogative, I'm amending this Season Awards rule:

This only applies to nominations that are NOT self-nominations.

Once nominations are submitted, voting will get you 3 points like the old days.

Please submit your nomination for GM of the Year below

NOMINATIONS DUE 5/8 @ 11:59 PM CENTRAL

Let's get wild - I'll put the Pelicans' own Nick for this one. He took big swings in trade in the off-season, then recalibrated and attacked his weaknesses with in-season moves as well and built a very strong team.

I'm going to nominate IamQuailman from the Milwaukee Bucks, who showed once again that he puts being a good GM over being a decent human being.

But seriously, forks, Doug went from going 24-58 to leading the Mourning Division. His key additions of Derick Hunter in free agency, Ja Morant through the trade market (who's having an absolutely revelatory year in the Bucks offense), and Conrad McRae (also through trade) put the Bucks on course to have a competitive team for a few seasons to come. Sure, he could've made one more deal to put himself completely over the top, but I still think it's a magnificent turnaround...and only having 99 mil on the books headed into next offseason before having to throw down in RFA, he has the ability to cash in Dangerous Chad Dangerfield for another win now player that'll launch him into title talk next season. Sure, he hasn't pulled that off yet, but it's the savvy groundwork laid this season that makes it all possible, and to maneuver into a 1st round bye a season after finishing with the 5th worst record in the league is just another example of how quickly Doug can turn things around, like when he's looking you in the eye and shaking your hand while somehow, simultaneously sneaking up behind you and stabbing you in the back.

I nominate Mamba. While our rivalry is well-documented, he has been extremely active and put his team atop the Omega conference, battling a very game Thunder for the top spot. While he may have made some bigger moves last season, like acquiring Boban, his hard work is really paying off this year and I think he should shine in the light for it now.
Somehow I manage.

It might feel weird, because he's at the bottom of the standings, but I thought JNR's season as a GM was very savvy. He made a plan, executed it to perfection, and his rebuild will only be as long as he wants it to be. I love the trades he made (as some others pointed out in the best trade thread), AND on top of his rebuild, his Skype trash-talking has gone to new levels both in humor and in general likeability/acceptance. A proper tear-down can be just as valuable (if not more) as a proper build-up.
6 Rings. That's it. That's the tweet.

I'm really torn between 2 GMs to nominate, but I want to nominate Eazy P for GMOY. He turned his team around from a 29-53 squad into a contender in the Alpha Conference. His team is young and up-and-coming with a youthful core of Lewis, Yandell, and Bonnett (among other green youngins). He could've stayed pat and rode out another tank year, but he went all in giving up some depth to snag Grayson Allen and Romeo Langford (which didn't cost him much iirc). With these additions, he launched himself into the top 5 of the conference like that. He also created a perfect mix of rookie contracts and veterans that will be beneficial for him for the coming seasons. His squad has the versatility to make some noise in the playoffs this year. It will be especially interesting to watch.
