Post by false9 »

Rules for Nominations: Nominate your Most Valuable Player OR someone else's Most Valuable Player that you feel was outstanding and exemplary. Please detail why the player nominated was the most valuable and why they deserve to win the award. You are limited to ONE nomination.

As always there will NOT be any prodding of other GMs or any general bitchassness in these threads. It will be deleted upon discovery.

He's probably going to win the computer vote MVP, but I'm still nominating Bjorn Ironside of the Toronto Raptors.

He's the league leader in points right now, and while a few other teams have better records, those teams have more weapons. The Raptors just need Bjorn. With one sim left to go, his EWA shows that he's responsible for 28.8 of the Raptors 52 wins. He's shooting a ridiculous .613 from the field, including .436 from beyond the arc. Those numbers would be exemplary for a C, but he's playing the 2 guard.

Other players have put up MVP numbers this season, and it's not a one horse race like it was during the AD era, but without Bjorn, the Raptors are much worse off than say, the Celtics without Ulis, the Bulls without Silva...even the Magic without Boban.

I’m going to replicate the classic real life argument of most outstanding player vs best player on the best by nominating my dude, Boban.

As a result of taking less shots and playing fewer minutes, Boban only put up 25.8 points and 7.4 rebounds on .591 TS% and a PER of 28.9 (Oddly enough, he did have a career high 3.1 blocks and 3 assists per game). So why the drop? Sure, he had a better supporting cast. He was probably sitting out most of the 4th quarters of games due to blowouts. He put up those stats in only 31.5 minutes per game, and was the leading man for a 73 win team with a point differential of 17.8 points. On a team of stars, his was the brightest.
