2028-2029 General Manager of the Year Nominations (Due 8/10 @11:59pm central)

Post by garbageman »

Rules for Nominations:(READ CAREFULLY AS THERE ARE CHANGES) Nominate yourself for General Manager of the Year OR someone else for General Manager of the Year that you feel was outstanding and exemplary. You are limited to ONE nomination.

This year there will be a GMOTY award AND a COTY award. Therefore you must consider different things when nominating for these two awards. The cultivation of a team's talent boils down to smart management in the front office. From drafting to making good trades to free agency, managing a roster’s skill-set, and managing a salary cap is not an easy job. Though the PBSL is mostly cyclical in terms of the power balance, the best general managers are able to keep their teams in the playoff picture year in and year out through proper management of their salary cap situation and close monitoring of how their team is built and fit together. But maybe some GM was able to completely flip a team, get out of the tax, and avoid a total rebuild while still being competitive. Whoever you feel deserves a nod, just make sure to break down why they deserve it.

Please break down why your nomination fits this bill and why your nomination deserves this award.

As always there will NOT be any prodding of other GMs or any general bitchassness in these threads. It will be deleted upon discovery.

While I'd like to see other nominations, I really think xist is far and away the GMOY. He had the best record in the league...even with a couple injuries, and if you look at the team he assembled, it's a no-brainer why. Though it took the preceding seasons to put the pieces together, getting Milburn with the MLE was the cherry on top. He wasn't afraid to spend big to put a top notch team together, and it's very likely he'll be rewarded with a ring for his efforts. If not, he should at least get GMOY.

I'll nominate the G-man here. He turned a mis-click on Angelo Chancellor's contract into a useful 3 and D guy in Van Grimaldi. The Bulls won 60 games, winning Division 5 and locking in the top seed in the Alpha conference. He ducked under the apron too- avoiding the 3x repeater tax.
