PAID REGRESSION

We have paid training, but what if we want to nerf a guy and not wait for TC to do it for us? What if we allowed people to PAY POINTS to decrease potential of a player? HE DOESNT NEED A B IN PRD ANYWAY; HE'S A CENTER!!!
Why would someone do this?
- Maybe it'll make their blue potential soon-to-be RFA player into a green potential player; that color change is a REAL difference maker in contracts
- OTHER REASONS AS WELL
Seems like a no-brainer

Can we do it to other teams' players?

i dunno man.
on one hand, i can see why you'd want to decrease PRD for a center because it may mean that, when the player *does* grow, he'll grow in all the other areas that are much more important — as opposed to developing useless attributes, such as PRD. that makes sense to me.
but at the same time, i still can't help but wonder why you wouldn't want a blue potential player. i understand it can play a role in contracts but i dunno man, i think it's only natural to want your player to grow to their fullest potential.
then again, i'm an idiot, so disregard my opinion

You're thinking of Anthony Davis.

Depending on the lotto results can I start hitting the draft file with negative trainings?

I think you've already been doing this for several seasons.

Wow, lots of personal attacks in here. Let's keep this clean. I think Gary is the only person to actually contribute to this conversation.

Literally the worst idea ever. Not just in sim league but like in the history of mankind. Quailboy should just shut the Frye up and go Frye himself.

There probably IS actually a salvageable good idea in this. I wouldn't mind seeing the option to re-train (i.e., kind of "swap potentials") as follows:
* You may choose to lower the potential of any one rating by one letter grade (20 points "under the hood") to raise another potential rating of a lower letter grade by one letter grade (i.e., by 20 points).
* The potential to be lowered must be D or higher.
* If used to raise a rating with 0 value, it raises it 21 points (to the D band).
* If used to raise a potential rating currently at a B, it cannot lift it above 85.
* If the player's potential rating drops below his current rating, his current rating is reduced to the same number as his potential rating.
* You may raise a player's foul rating as though it were a potential rating. You may not lower it.
* Training cost is 5 "league points."
* May only be used once per season.
Examples:
If I have a player with an A potential in PRD, I can lower that rating by 20 points (to a B) and in exchange raise any other potential rating of B or lower.
If I have a player with a C potential, I can lower that rating by 20 points, but I can only raise other potential ratings that are D's or F's.

Any sense on whether this would have color impact or not?

It could. Game weights some ratings more heavily than others (e.g. INS is much more important than FTS).

I would probably make this more expensive than 5pts. If I have a Center with A PRD and D PSD... that A PRD is a useless rating to begin with. Basically 5 pts to get a D PSD to a C PSD. or better yet. When if that person were to pay train potential 1st (D -> C) and then do the potential swap (making PSD now C -> B while lowering the PRD from A -> B). Basically can go up 40 rating potential points with one training. Would probably need to add in more restrictions for sure. basically something like you cannot combine & train potential for a player that is receiving this potential swap... or something like that.
