BACKGROUND:
Currently, the Sim Schedule is "Two Weeks at a Time" and the trade deadline falls on Thursday of the 16th week of the season.
Players signed during off-season Free Agency can't be traded until December 15th due to the 60-day trade freeze.
Even when we push the sim ahead to December 15 (so players can be traded immediately on December 15th), due to our current "two weeks at a time" schedule, the next sims end no earlier than 12/29 (14 days), 1/12 (28 days), 1/26 (42 days), and 2/9 (56 days).
The trade deadline usually falls between 2/13 and 2/19 (due to our sim schedule being "2 weeks at a time", a player cannot be signed in the off-season, traded on 12/15, and traded again just before the trade deadline even though 60 days DO elapse between the 12/15 mark and the trade deadline).
PROPOSAL: The proposal has two parts that work together.
1. Push the trade deadline back to Week 17 Thursday to ensure it falls in the second half of February.
2. Instead of simming "2 weeks at a time" the sim schedule is as follows:
(Preseason Sim)
Sim 1: Through 11/15
Sim 2: Through 11/30
Sim 3: Through 12/15 (off-season additions become eligible for trade)
Sim 4: Through 12/31
Sim 5: Through 1/15
Sim 6: Through 1/31
Sim 7: Through 2/15 (hits all-star break, players traded prior to Sim 4 are eligible for trade)
Sim 8: Through 2/28 (trade deadline)
Sim 9: Through 3/15
Sim 10: Through 3/31
Sim 11: Through end of season (Season usually ends about 4/20 to 4/22, I'd rather see one long sim than a 5- or 7- day short sim; also, assuming the preseason sim is done on a Monday, this closes the regular season out on a Friday)
