Mock Expansion Draft

Post by logpmess »

I decided to analyze each team and make a pool for a mock expansion draft. I stuck with the salary max of $56,100,000, which is 66% of an estimated salary cap of $85,000,000 to try to simulate along the lines of the real NBA.

C- Omer Asik
PF - Clint Capela
SF - Kyle Singler
SG - Jordan Adams
PG - DJ Augustin
6 - Julius Randle
7 - Jae Crowder
8 - Keven Seraphin
9 - Michael Carter-Williams
10 - Mitch McGary
11 - Tyler Hansborough
12 - Tim Frazier

Total Salary: $52,547,142

The only player on this list with more than 10 million dollars in salary cap is Omer Asik. Although he doesn't necessarily have the offensive output, he does more things around the basket than other people at his position for the price per year. A large number of these players are either on rookie contracts or are on expiring deals. This team would be a lotto team in the first year or two for so. Some of these players have the ability to develop into quality role players in the future, but none are explicitly all star players. After this exercise, any expansion team is going to have a high lottery pick going forward. With any sort of cap limitation, a team that is able to compete immediately is not a possibility. I'm going to attach the pool for the expansion that I used.
