New York Knicks - Press Conference

GM enters the press room in a suit missing a pant leg and no shirt under his jacket...
Media: Holy shit.... is he... is he okay?
Inner_GI: So as we gather here for our yearly pre season press conference, I want to take a quick moment to acknowledge some front office moves we made last night... I think. Can't really remember.
Effectively immediately our head trainer has been fired. Literally he's been fired. Here is a picture of his house.
Why you might ask, well I'll point you to the corpses of Jeremy Lin and Chandler Parsons.
They combined to lose 107 points in their current rating this offseason. For reference AK47 at the age of 33 lost 16... DED.
Inner_GI: So besides the horrific training camp the Knicks had, there were a ton of moves this offseason that we should mention.
1. We won the draft lotto and took Nikola Jokic with the first pick to shock most of the league. By the way, he had a good camp. Thank God.
2. We drafted Clarkson with the 6th pick of the draft
3. Later in the draft we traded up to select Tim Frazier as a project at the PG position.
4. After the draft, we packaged up Jordan Clarkson (who had a great camp... Frye me) and the Mavs 2016 for Wesley Matthews (who basically didn't show up to TC... I think I'm happy about that) This move was to find a #1 option for the team, and to give Kent Bazemore a great mentor to learn from.
5. After the draft and striking out in the first 2 rounds of UFA, we set our sights on the PFs of the league, and after whoring my body out for days, we decided to ship Nikola Vucevic and the Wizards first for John Henson and Chandler "I don't try" Parsons. So yea we got <expletive deleted> in the ass on that one.
6. Then TC came....
Knicks are ded. Maybe these players will learn from their mistakes, but if they don't I'll burn their houses down next. Frye THEM.
Any questions?

Your starting lineup looks a lot different this year than it does last year. What kind of identity is your team aiming to craft with Lin, Matthews, Parsons, Henson, and Jokic?

Initially we were aiming to be a drive and dish team with Lin and Matthews having decent passing and shooting capabilities. Not to mention Jokic can pass really well. I think we will still try to play that style, but with TC we lost a lot of shooting skill.

Where do you see yourself fitting in in the Atlantic division seeding? We all know that we shouldn't read into preseason too much

Bottom 3 easily.

Do you plan on training your new rookie with the new training system recently implemented?

Absolutely. The initial plan was to train Jokic in a couple spots, but with the result of TC, my points may be used elsewhere, but I'm still 100% training Jokic's jump for probably the next 4 seasons.

Aside from Jokic (who should prove to be a valuable addition for years to come) which players are you most optimistic for this upcoming season?
Are you open to making any mid-season changes, whether it be via trade, release, or acquisition?

I'm most excited to see how Henson pairs next to Jokic. At the guard spot, I like the continued develop of Bazemore. I'll get a better feel for how soon he can become a starter.
I'm always open to making moves, but I don't really see anything/anyone out there willing to buy what I would be selling.

GWR: I've heard rumors that you've come to regret choosing Jokic over Andrew Wiggins. After seeing how well Jokic progressed in training camp, can you definitively say you have no regrets?

Nick Melon; The Advocate: Can you think of a situation in Star Wars that you think most resembles the Knicks current roster post training camp?

I wouldn't say it was regret, but it was a worry that I should have just drafted the player that fit in naturally. I honestly can't tell if we made the right decision considering the return we got for Vucevic. At least we know as an organization we drafted a young player ready to put in the work to become a great player in this league. That gives us confidence for the future.

You're a very young team, but you also have some good NBA players on the team right now. For this season, will you try and find minutes for Tim Frazier or will he likely be glued to the bench for most of the year?

I think Frazier will find some minutes at backup pg. We are pretty weak at the backup pf and pg spots. That's something we may try to address during the season, if possible.

Your owner Scott Roberts bought the team in 2012 and has the reputation of wanting to make profits, but also wanting to win even more. Do you feel pressure from him to build a winner quickly?

I've had bad approval with him since he bought the team. Dude is a straight up jerk. With the facilities he has provided us during training camps, he doesn't care about winning. We train in barn...
