As he rolled out of bed, Philadelphia 76ers GM digiskunk let out a long sigh. His head throbbing from last night's party at the bar, he slowly crawled out of bed as if he were a zombie. Today was a big day: It was press conference day. And he had to come prepared. So he did what anybody would do: He put on the first pair of clothes he found that were tossed on the ground. Should I take a shower? he pondered to himself. No, he replied to his thoughts.

Somehow, some way, he managed to arrive at Chucky Cheese's just in time for the press conference. As he stood behind the podium, he vomited onto the ground. It was go time, baby.

digiskunk: Welcome, everyone, to this year's press conference. A lot has transpired since my last appearance and I'm pretty eager to tell you all about it.

First and foremost, let's discuss last season. I had high hopes for the club; in fact, I thought we had a decent chance at finishing in the middle of standings. However, like usual, I was wrong: We sucked! Despite having a young Chris Mullin on the squad, along with an array of goofballs, we played absolutely atrociously.

Despite this, we had assembled a small collection of players who I believe will be stars in the future. These players include Chris Mullin and Sam Perkins. Both of them showed me that they had the potential to be future all-stars; in fact, I think Chris Mullin may end up in the Hall of Fame—and what a surprise that would be!

Although we had a bad season, we had a great off-season, acquiring talent such as Joe Barry Carroll (through a trade with the Bucks). We desperately needed a center, so we traded the 4th overall pick in the draft for him. It was a perfect trade that benefited both sides. To increase our depth at center, we also managed to bring back Jack Sikma, who will come off the bench and play valuable minutes.

Somehow we were able to sign Ricky Pierce (small forward), an all-star caliber player who will come off the bench. We were so lucky to sign him.

Jon Sundvold and Jay Humphries have developed into amazing players. I'm so proud of them. They have so much potential and I can't wait to see what the future holds for them.

I'll now be answering questions!

You had a good offseason and made some great picks. Sundvold, though, has to be paid next year. With Humphries leaping over expectations in his development, is there any consideration in trading Sundvold for more pieces? Or is the plan to have them grow together?

That's a very good question, but I feel that we're in a position where our hands are tied. We're eager to compete, whether this year or next year, and he has proven to be a vital player on the team. By trading him, we'd only be setting ourselves back and putting ourselves in a position where we'd have to develop another young player.

Chet Youbetcha, Dimmadome News: a year out from the proclamation that you were going to burn the league down, do you feel any closer to this goal?
