S85 Town Hall 5

Post by Mike Lowry »

If this exact moment in SLOE was a movie scene, which scene would it be?
Explain why as if the rest of us never seen the movie.

Rules: 1 point if you give thoughtful answers, which I will award after the timer ends for responses. The timer ends for responses at the moment the corresponding week's Sim is run.

Note: Use approximately 5 sentences as your bare minimum for 1 point. If you write 3 long, complex sentences, you'll still get a point. If you write 5, 3 word sentences, you will not get a point. Don't @ me.

Due: Deadline for sim 5

The Sonics teardown reminds me of the last scene with Aunt Gladys from Weapons. Spoilers below.

They tried to win but came up short and then the whole league picked them apart and now we cant even recognize the squad anymore. Sad day. The returns were good so far but I imagine their inbox was filled with offers from teams who wanted a piece of the action. Their rise and fall much like this scene was entertaining at least.

Enjoy.

Ralph Sampson finally on the move....to the Bucks? No, no, after all that talk and pressure, AB never folds and moves him to his buddy in Seattle instead, for a deal not many saw coming.

I think of the movie Wall Street --Specifically, the moment where Gordon Gekko (Boston&AB), who never intended on handing over anything to his rival, is expected at some point to give in and sell his valuable stock (Ralphy boi) to a rival corporate raider (Doug&theBucks). This raider has been circling and obsessing over acquiring over acquiring the stock when everything comes crashing down. Instead Gekko sells it to an unexpected third party out of spite and strategy.

I think the Ralph trade for Wilks was a lot of strategy, but we all know there was also a little spite lol.
Welcome to the Garden!

This scene describes my season at the moment. Coming into the season, I was excited and looking forward to hopefully becoming a consistent contender. I walked in with a big smile on my face. And then, immediately as the season start it just went all downhill. The losses piled up. Any changes I made just didn’t seem to have an effect on the outcome. I was then forced to decide if I should keep trying since I don’t own my own pick next draft or just say screw it and rebuild without it. Now we’re in a fire sale and having to tear everything down. Hopefully this rebuild doesn’t last too long

So there's this movie about a makeshift dodgeball team that is trying to learn how to win at dodgeball. They watch this informational video that has 5 keys to playing dodgeball.

This is how I feel everyone competing is trying to avoid injuries.

Pulp Fiction is a movie about a rigged prize fight and the fallout of a fighter who decided against taking a dive.
It doesn't run chronologically and unfolds brilliant twists along the way.
It's a Tarantino masterpiece with a star studded cast.
This point of the season is the scene where Ving Rhames tells Bruce Willis
That's pride <expletive deleted> with you - Frye PRIDE!!

If you never seen it, 10 out of 10 recommend.

The Boston Celtics star in "TITANTIC"

@AngryBanana and Ralph Sampson are enjoying the time of their life being in love. They are dancing, they are romancing, they are painting nude portraits, they are making love in a steamy backseat of a car.

Image

But then, this love boat turned into a sinking ship after playing the Milkwaukee Bucks 4 times in 12 days of November. Unable to course correct, water began to penetrate the lower portion of the boat. People start to jump overboard for fear of death, not knowing what awaits below. Meanwhile, @AngryBanana & Ralph Sampson are floating on a piece of wood in the freezing Atlantic. Ralph tells AB "I'm cold". AB tells him back "I'll never let go". But then he does, as he lets go of Ralph to the bottom of the Pacific (see what I did there), AB grabs a blue/purple necklace and wears it the rest of his life. That necklace is Dominique Wilkins. The ship was the Celtics. I am the iceberg.
