Supersonics S6 Presser

Post by BigDaddyd8720 »

Welcome in everybody to the Supersonics S6 Presser. BigDaddyD back again and I am really excited for this season.

First, we'll start with last season. While we suffered yet another first round exit, I believe it is something we can build on and finally get ourselves into the next round and hopefully further. Our guys played their hardest and brought the Kings to Game 7 even after being down two key players in Thompson and Cook. Cook was a menace on defense on season and we missed his intensity while Thompson was a reliable scorer and rebounder. Cook came back to help us force Game 7 but we came up just short. I'm hoping the work that everybody put in this offseason will help us stay healthy so we can really see what this team looks like in the playoffs with everybody playing. But enough about the past, let's talk about this season.

Of course our priority was to bring Schayes back and we got him. Then we found out nobody wanted him this offseason and I can't wait to see him make everybody feel foolish about that. We added a lot of depth to our team this season in the draft and free agency and I really feel like this team is poised to make some noise this season. We have 7 players who are starting caliber players and then another 3-4 really good rotational players. Brewer and Eaton being our 6-7, Rory and Stan give us plenty of defensive guard depth. Then Wiggins and Pickney are likely to round out the end of bench with Catledge also possibly getting some good minutes. And I know preseason doesn't mean success but it really looked like they played well together. While we did give up more points than we typically do, we also showed that we can score with the best of them. We have some changes in mind that we think can help with that.

All in all, I'm really looking forward to this season and truly believe this will finally be the season we get through the first round.

I will now open it to any questions you may have

Will you and your team shotgun beers after each winning sim?

We will all shotgun beers if we bring home the trophy. Can't celebrate if we only win a few games at a time

There's been rumors that Mark Eaton is on the trade block. Are you aggressively trying to trade him or waiting for the best offer? If nothing comes to fruition, do you plan on resigning him after this season?

We are open to hearing what people have to offer. We haven't found an offer that we really like just yet. He gives us depth while we wait for our draft picks to develop a little bit more. As far as what to do after the season, that will depend more on how this season goes. If we don't feel like he's helping us win anymore, then we will look to shop him around. But if he proves to be a reliable player for us then we will have to have discussion about what to do with our finances. But for now, it's going to take something juicy to pull him away from us.

If they want to send me all the free beer, then I will happily take them as a sponsor. Maybe we can get them to move out here and leave that god forsaken city behind

My biggest priority was getting Schayes back and adding some depth. We really felt like we have a great roster and that we just needed some extra bench players to help us out in case we have some injuries this season.
