Nuggets 1983 Press Conference

Post by Jedihero »

No flashing lights, no DJ, no music. Everything is still and quiet as the room awaits the entrance of the GM for the Nuggets, Jedihero.

A few minutes late of the designated time, Jedihero opens the doors and solemnly walks up to the podium to begin speaking.

"Look, I'm going to keep this short and sweet. We had a rough start to the season last year with most of our championship winning team in tact, but the owners and I decided the best step forward was to try and get as many chances in the 1984 for this wunderkind named Michael Jordan. I don't understand how 1 man can change the game that much, but what do I know?"

"I think we made some great deals, we got a 1st for each of our stars and picked up some nice young talent along with it, and in doing so we were able to secure the #1 pick in this past 1983 draft and were able to select Clyde Drexler so start building our team around."

"Free Agency was a god damn bust, excuse my French. We only had a few signing later on in the signing period. I believe our offers were competitive but I don't blame someone not wanting to come after seeing what happened in the middle of last season. Hopefully we can change some minds after this upcoming season and gain some of our signing power back."

"Honestly, other than that there's not much for me to comment on. We are rebuilding with some good opportunities upcoming for some young talent to carry us as a competitive team for a few years to come."

"Who's got some questions for me?"

GWR: There is something impressive about going from the championship to the #1 pick. Are you intending to continue this rollercoaster or do you want to keep the rebuild going a bit?

Seemingly being very guard-heavy, what is the approach for your PF and C positions?

In a selfish sort of way, I'm trying to push for playoffs this season as I don't hold my own pick, but then will settle into a more of a full rebuild.

*whispers* (Please Help)

I have contacted a few teams about making a move but people seem to be holding tight to their big men. Maybe something will open up later in the season as we move toward deadline day.

If we can sneak in the playoffs as the #6 I would be ecstatic, for now we are just being the best team we can be.
