Chicago Bulls 1981 Preseason Presser

Post by logpmess »

Welcome everyone to the Windy City. We are happy to have you here.

Last year had both positive and negative notes throughout the season. We were very disappointed in our medical staff and the loss of Kyle Macy so early in the season. It really put us in a hole that we did not think we could climb out of. To our surprise, our team banded together and we made the playoffs. We knew the playoffs would be tough, and lost in 5 to Cleveland.

We drafted a defensive team in the creation draft, and it really showed when our first round draft pick Michael Cooper was selected to the first team all defense. We were hoping for more output from him on the offensive end, but he can anchor our defense if we can find scoring elsewhere. That brings us to the disappointing side of this equation: coaching.

Our coaching could improve to maximize the scoring throughout the season and playoffs.

We drafted a good young big in Steve Johson. He can develop to a force inside that can score and play both power forward and center.

Our focus this season is on scoring more points than the other team rather than holding the other team to less points than us.

With that, we are open to questions from the group.

Steve Duin, Blazers beatwriter for the Oregonian...

What do you think can motivate Cooper to make the offensive jump you're hoping for?

We’re going to try to take some pressure off of him. We want to have him play the game at his own pace. Let the game come to him.
