The "realistic" portion of my offseason plan got done. The "unrealistic" part did not.
After seeing that we had been able to succeed in the playoffs despite Bernard King's absence, I felt confident our backcourt could carry the load without one of King or David Thompson, and that would give me the opportunity to reinforce my frontcourt, specifically the PF spot. What were you trying to get done, and how did you do it?
I would have really loved to trade into a higher pick than we had, preferably a top 3 pick but everyone's price to trade up was, I felt, too high for me to pay. Getting a top pick despite making the Finals was probably the "unrealistic" part of my offseason plan. Isiah Thomas would be the perfect poster child for the Blunt Force part of the TraumaBlazers. If you couldn't get things done, what came up unexpectedly that prevented you from following through?
Well, we're basically the same team (the one without King) that won three playoff series in the West with no rotation player over the age of 27 before falling in the Finals... and we added last season's Defensive Player of the Year. Training Camp swatting Bill Cartwright on the head notwithstanding, I feel we should be in pretty good shape this season as long as the injury fairy goes somewhere else. How do you feel about your chances of success in the upcoming season?
Yes, it worked! The main plan was find a playmate for Moses. Alton "The Ultimate Clitster" Lister was 1000% that guy. He doesn't do shit but bang. And Moses needed a banger, while he puts it in the hole. You know what I'm saying?? Yeah, I don't either.Mike Lowry wrote: Fri Feb 14, 2025 3:46 pm Did your offseason plan work out?

Honestly, the offseason went pretty well. We were happy that Steve Johnson fell to us in the draft. We see him with his size and ability developing into a real rotational player for the team. Our players developed well during TC which is great for such a young team. We did go and get a backup center to attack some of the bigs we see throughout the year.Mike Lowry wrote: Fri Feb 14, 2025 3:46 pm Did your offseason plan work out?

Rules: 1 point if you give thoughtful answers, which I will award after the timer ends for responses. The timer ends for responses at the moment the corresponding week's Sim is run.
Note: Use approximately 5 sentences as your bare minimum for 1 point. If you write 3 long, complex sentences, you'll still get a point. If you write 5, 3 word sentences, you will not get a point. Don't @ me.
Due: Due by the deadline for sim 1
I didn't really have a set plan going in. I knew i could stand pat and do nothign and be fine assuming TC didnt destroy everyone (it didnt). That said, I was trying to be pretty active in the draft, but alot of negotiations fell through. Things happen. Even then I felt more confident in STANDING PAT than moving towards youth. We then pivoted to trading what remaining assets we had for depth, with Billy Knight as the inevitable get. He wasn't the top of our trade target lists, but hopefully his resourcefulness will come in handy. We've become a really deep team on the wing. As for success, I think we'll be fine barring injury. Hoping for a run for the division title, and avoid the Nets in round 1 lolDid your offseason plan work out?
