Seattle's SuperSonic Presser

Post by BigDaddyd8720 »

*soft murmur in the crowd as reporters patiently await for the presser to start*

Reporter 1: "y'all here about the new commisioner?"

Reporter 2: "yea, not sure how that happened. The guy hasn't been in the league that long and already thinks he can run it? Doubtful. He couldn't even stick to his original schedule of when the season would start. Plus he's been blabbering on about 2061 since he got here. We all know this world is ending in the year 2000."

Reporter 3: "Yea, but I hear he's got a lot of energy and people within the league seem to already like him"

Reporter 2: "Like him? Most of the league doesn't even know him and he expects everyone to just let him have control over this league? I give him maybe 2 seasons before he is out"

Reporter 3: "Well let's see what you think about him after I finish my presser"

Reporter 2: "What do you mean "when you....Oh my god!!!"

That's right everybody, It is I, GM of the Seattle Supersonics and Commissioner of the Greatest Sim League this world will ever know. Welcome in to our Preseason presser!

First, I would like to thank everyone for allowing me to be Commissioner. It's still kinda strange, almost feels like a dream. One minute I was GM of some team called the New Orleans Pelicans in the year 2061 and the next minute I'm waking to find out I've been name Commissioner in the year 1980. Weird stuff, y'all. As I've said before, I really look forward to making this league even more than it used to be and will do everything in my power to keep this league running smoothly. There will be some bumps along the way, as you may have noticed already, but rest assured, I have the best crew to help me along the way and soon everything will be running seamlessly. Just bare with me this season and we will make sure this train gets rolling and doesn't ever stop!

Next, I would like to talk about my team. I admit, I didn't really have a set plan going into the draft. I kinda wanted to just see who fell to me in the draft and go from there. In my other life, I had experience bringing a team near rock bottom into the playoffs so I expect nothing less than that this time around. We may not get the results in year 1, but you will definitely see those results in the near future. I drafted Robert Parish because I felt like he would was the best option after the Big 3. He's got a lot of experience and can really help build the younger guys up. And he's only 27 so hopefully when the younger guys are hitting their peaks, he'll still be playing at an elite level and can be the piece we need to push us deep into the playoffs. I also feel good about the rest of our bigs, I see a lot of rebounding in our future. We have two young guards that are ready to play now and I feel they can make an impact quickly. If those two develop they way I see them developing, then this team will be a very dangerous one for years to come.

Overall, I expect a slow start but once we get started, we won't be stopping until we get that boat!. Thank you all for coming out to my presser and I will now open it to anyone who has any questions.

John Jimmerson, Jean Journal: With the 3 point shot being newly implemented; do you feel it has staying power? How do you think it'll affect the future of the league?

Bruce Wayne, The Gotham Gazetteer

So one might think that the new commissioner of our beautiful new league may be open to an early tank while he "develops his young guys." No talk of immediate improvements. One might think he knows what the future of this league holds and sees future talent that could pair nicely with Robert before his 30s. What would you say to someone that might be thinking that the expectation of a "slow start" is just putting makeup on a "tank"?

The 3 point line is such a silly concept. I really don't think it will last long in this league. People may enjoy it now because it's something new but it will definitely not stand the test of time. I wouldn't be looking to much into players changing their playing style too much for it.

Listen, "tank" is never in my vocabulary. I say slow start just to tell people they shouldn't get too excited over nothing. We're gonna go out and compete every single game and try our best to win. Our expectations are always going to be the same, to win a championship. We just understand that sometimes it takes longer than other teams. You will never see this team throw in the towel. We have plenty of really good players to complement Parish and we believe this team is ready to compete now.

You declared that you might have a slow start and are looking to build up your team, however you had the 4th overall pick in the draft. Are you saying you didn't draft a great team? Basically having the choice of any player outside the big 3 is something GMs dream of and sounds like you aren't fully taking advantage of it.

I don't know what the future holds. I'm just not going to come in here and saying we're going all the way and then we fall flat on our faces. In kind of a reverse psychology thing, we say we're gonna be bad, people lower expectations, and then we surprise the league. I do believe I built together a great team but there are so many factors that could play against us. We are very young so people might have to wait until next season before they see this team reach their potential. Who knows, maybe we do make a playoff run and sail away on our new boat. It's a long season and we're looking to get better each and every day
