The Milwaukee Bucks are BACK!

Post by IamQuailman »

*GM Ian Quailmen takes the podium*

GM: Good Morning, you beautiful Wisconsonians. It's good to be home back in Milwaukee, where I spent nearly 60 years of my life (1990-2049). Lots of great memories there; built a championship pedigree over the years before leaving for Detroit as a double agent... But what's in the past is in the past! Let's talk about the present, which I guess is kinda in the past too!

*lots of side eyes, confused looks, and shrugs from those in the audience & at the table with the GM*

GM: Anyway, in this beautiful October day in 1980, we want to look a back just a few weeks to the crazy, unexpected league shuffle that took place, resulting in us being in a creation draft and drafting from scratch. It's never fun being in the middle of a draft round, but we made the best of our opportunities where we could, going best player available on the board for our first 3 picks. Big Bill Laimbeer is coming out of Notre Dame looking to be a dominant force in the paint from the get-go. We were shocked AND THRILLED that he fell to us at 14! Likewise, needing a guard to pair with Bill, we were so thankful the rest of the league DISRESPECTED Walter Davis, gracing us with the opportunity to add such a prolific scorer! While we ideally would've loved to add some more rebounding help somewhere on the wing or paint... and damn you New Jersey (@RPF) for drafting Darryl Dawkins one pick before us, it was hard for us to consider anyone else with our 3rd pick other than Ray Williams.

GM: While we are enamored with the core we put in place, one thing we wanted to do was monopolize athletic, tall & long wings who can create chaos, whether it be offense or defense. Enter: Michael Wiley & Bill Hanzlik. We are particularly excited about Michael's athleticism and ability to get to the rim, especially off the bench... likewise, Bill really brings versatility to our starting 5. A real gritty player! And of course, we loved pairing David Greenwood with Big Bill to form a formidable big man duo.

GM: We are really curious to see how this team starts out. Clearly we are young, but I think there's the potential to really surprise folks!

With that said, any questions!

Comm Mish, of the SLOE Gazette: You had a great preseason! Do you see this team being able to continue that momentum throughout the regular season or do you see any areas where you may need to add somebody in a trade to really push you to the next level?

Preseason is always a bit of a mirage. You never know if it's there as most teams are playing soft zone defense. The real test will come during the 1st sim. But if we do see a good bit of success early in the season, we may find ourselves in the position to pursue outside take to make a push. The first month of the season will tell!

"Crosseyed" Chris Nutter: Hey Quailman, Nutter here. Like most of the teams in the league right now, everybody has a wonky roster. What do you think your biggest strengths are compared to your biggest weaknesses? And please elaborate on the weaknesses part.

I would think one of biggest strengths is versatility between the 1-4 positions. We really like the youth+young vet core we have gathered and hope that they can really grow together. Weakness would probably be our ability to protect the rim. We really would like to shore that up at some point during the season, be it through trade or eagle-eyeing the waiver wire
