Heat 70 Presser

Post by Mike Lowry »

Slow and steady collecting assets.
That's the game we sold last season, and I'm staying the course.
We really liked bringing in Baba Miller to lead our young core this season.
We buried him on the IR to complete our tank job last year, which landed us Brandin Podziemski.
He's nice, and he'll compliment the rest of our young core.
By the way, three players all rookie teams, not mad, but not married.
You like what you see.
Come with your cash out.
We also picked up some very valuable role players in free agency that will have their bags packed on day 60.
For our own part, we have some feelers out for players that look like solid material.
We understand that those players are valued highly by their current owners, but we think we have some good packages to offer in return and we will continue to use our phone.
That's why we pay T-Mobile.
If we didn't call you yet, let us know what you have in mind.
We're looking to get active on that transaction board.
We think we're too deep to successfully tank, so we'll be competing for the middle of the league while sellin the plane out the air.
We will be happy with 35 wins and some nice receipts.
We will jump out in front of Dejuan Baker and say, the Miami Heat management made a horrible mistake.
We don't like the stain he is putting on our brand, and we are willing to pay to get his drunk ass out the building ASAP!
So if you're running a clearing house this season, send us the routing numbers.
Money in and out over here.

Staring five will be:
C: James Orozco
PF: Frederic Claytor
SF: Baba Miller
SG: Antonio Blakeney
PG: Markus Ridenhour

Sham Smith, Bulls.com: In free agency, you made strong plays for point guards Darius Garland, Markus Ridenhouer, Dejuan Baker, and PG adjacent Antonio Blakeney. What was the plan going after all these players and did it go according to plan?

It looks like you've at least thought about get the point machine turning again (i.e accumulating like 100 points in a season). What assets will you be looking to move to get it kick started again?

You signed four guards (Ridenhour, Garland, Blakeney, and Baker) who rank among the league's best we have seen over the past decade to some serious guaranteed money despite their age. Can you talk about your thought process here and what they bring to the table?

Well the plan was to sign them and sell them, so yes and no.
I was very happy to sign all of them strengthen what was a glaring weakness for my team since I took them over.
I still think Ridenhour and Garland will move day 60 along with Blakeney, but Baker was a bad miscalculation that will take a minute to get over.

Well my whole team is available, so I guess whoever other people want is who I'm looking to trade first, but I imagine a title contender would be happy to send me a good prospect in return for a package.
I'm happy to move pieces for points though.

I know teams contending for the title would have loved to have this depth for vet min money, but I happen to be in a position to tax for them.
I had the luxury to take them off the board and I did.
Also, I have a ton of guys on their first contracts that don't add up to enough money to land a high paid talent.
I needed some contracts that had value, that I could pair with prospects to bid on stars.
If they don't move, I'll be happy with their production.
Point is a pivotal position in this game.
You can look at the post camp attributes.
These guys still have tread on their tires.

Dejuan Baker may have been your most discussed miss, but based on preseason results, he's easily your best player, having put up over 20pts per game, and your only player to do so. You went 0-5 in preseason. Do you think 35 wins is still a good target, or do you think you might pivot to tanking outright for a nice draft pick?
Somehow I manage.
