Warriors S63 Preseason Presser - for my Grubby Hubby

“That’s right, Fabi-baby, take your medicine…”

“…Mmmm, there you go. Take it down. Real nice. Real nice, my Hubby.”

“What about us, Greeple? Can we have some?”

Image
“You want me to give it to you, too? After I gave it to my Hubby?”

Image
“Yes, Greeple. Please.”

And thus I spread my medicine around. Not only to my Fabi-baby, but to Markus and, new kid on the Golden State block, Alphonse. They will all be juiced to the gills, ready to birth my first chil- err, championship gold!

We had a fantastic offseason in The Bay. Fabian looks hungry and ready to Grub down on the competition in PBSL, looking like Boban and moving like Dort. Scoring like neither, though. He’ll be headed to the free throw line a lot this year, and he will build a huge brick house. Nothing and no one will stop him from doing that, but for now, in Golden State, we’re okay with that. He’s playing like a true Warrior, and he is a true Warrior, battling the biggest baddies in basketball.

The Grub Hub is really the only reason any talent looked our way this offseason. After most of the Warrior squad broke their bodies in ‘51-’52, our record took a nosedive as Hub’s stats went on the rise. For a 24 yr old, he truly impressed. Mr. Morelock saw himself playing alongside my Hubby, and requested a reasonable transfer out of Memphis, a city where the team could not sustain itself any longer at the hands of a madman gone broke. Grab the gold and run, Alphonse did! That championship mettle will mean a lot here in the coming years, and we are ready for Alphonse to spread it.

Mr. Markus had some fun in the preseason, playing great basketball, and we hope that continues all season long - injury free!

I don’t think we’re done making moves this year, so if you’re interested in cutting a deal, come holler and we’ll shoot the breeze. But I’m most likely to move Glynn for a cheap price. We loved his productivity in the preseason, but with Gillam’s TC development as well as Jed’s, we have a minutes problem at the 5. So, come give a holler! Even if it’s one of those guys you’re looking for!

Most exciting of all, we have one of the fastest teams in all of PBSL, from 1-5. You best believe we’ll be pushing that pace. And now we’ll take your questions!

Sham Smith, Bulls.com: You mention that there are still moves to make this season. What do you think your three biggest needs to address are with this roster?

You acknowledged Hub's poor FT shooting during the presser but have you given any thought to boosting his potential to at least a "C" level and seeing what happens?

Three? Well, one is there is only one Hub. If there were three, there would be three fewer problems. Seriously though, I think depth could be a problem for us. A lack of a diverse group of scorers could prove problematic. But we also need more defense on the perimeter. We could get beat by an elite three-point shooting team for sure.

One thing I've noticed about PBSL players is that their free throw shooting never gets better. It only gets marginally worse. If I train his free throws, to C potential, I will have to spend more points to get him to 41...and that's it. I can't train him past 41. Unless I train his potential again to B, and then spend more points training him to 61 and... yeah, I'd rather just keep making him fast as Frye. It's hilarious.

Having missed the playoffs in 3 of the last 4 years whilst relying on veteran short-term deals and also not having a first-rounder this year---what is the long-term vision in Golden State?

Congrats on the great off-season. After hitting rock bottom a few years back it really seems like you've turned things around. At what point over the last few seasons do you think played the biggest part into getting your squad to where it is today?

You mentioned being a friendly landing spot for big stars lately;
What did you drop in that Bay water that seems so appealing to free agents?

Can you please tell the court why your head coach was found breaking into the Celtics training facility to steal all of the players abilities to use for your own training camp?

Whoa, shots fired?! What is YOUR long term plan?!

Seriously though, it's a good question. Hub is my long term vision. I've built a team around him. I'm just gonna say it - one time while PBSL'ing I got really high and got the giggles over the idea of training Hub's QKN to 81. So that's exactly what I'm going to do. And I don't care how dumb it is, because I still think it's hilarious.

Jokes aside, I'm just trying to build a contender one piece at a time. Once I start heading into the tax, you'll know I'm getting serious about a title, and then you can ask me sarcastically "Uhrhh what is your long term plan lolol" because historically I have not been able to win, even with a winning team. Isht happens. But right now I have Hub, Morelock and Ridenhour in my core group. I think it's a good start.

I think I stopped taking winning so seriously and focused on having fun. I have a ton of fun in PBSL, but I drove myself legit mad earlier in my career trying to win and fumbling in the conference finals. So, part of it was philosophy.

Early on, I had some pretty good luck with big guys. I think I had a few turn blue unexpectedly, and I always thought big guys that could move quickly could be an ace up my sleeve. Then Fabian Hub walked in with a crazy TC bump after I drafted him (#18 I think?), and I just knew that, whatever I do, he was my future star, and I've slowly built him up with point-steroids.

Along the way I just got so tired of losing that I cashed in all my chips for one good season, and that one good season nabbed me a frustrated Markus Ridenhour, and his and Haun's season of injuries nabbed me a #5 draft pick that I could swing into Morelock. I wish I could say more for all the newb GM's possibly reading this, but I was just opportunistic.

...And as much as I HATE K-100, he's a really good trading partner :)

Well, the big star acquisition started with Markus in S62. We showed him our goods and he liked what he saw. Plus it's nicer weather in the Bay than Toronto.

For Morelock, we dropped a splash of JUICE in his water- he should be looking mighty fine by the end of his tenure in Golden State! And everyone else that comes our way? Well, I reckon we'll have a winning enough season to rake in talent next offseason. Look out Nuggies and Lake-show - the Warriors are looking to do battle!!!

I mean, I'll be a double champ someday, with a head coach as crooked as Conor McGregor
