S62 WARRIORS preseason presser

Post by greepleairport »

The Warriors are good! We are actually good! We won a lot of games and made it to game 7 in the semifinals of the playoffs! We were good enough to see Markus Ridenhour pull a Benedict Arnold and swing over to the Bay! It was a super fun season, the most PBSL fun I have had in a while. Sometimes the right move is to say eff it, and be the best you can be.

And we were not the best, barely even close. There were a lot better teams last year, especially the champion Celtics (congrats again!), and there are even more better teams than us this year. While we retained our big men in free agency, we saw 3 of our top players disappear - Bone and Gauss left in rebuild trades, and Dort got a better offer to play elsewhere. So it’s lucky Markus came over. I still think, head to head, y/y Dort bests a b/b Markus, and we have some work to do with Markus, but we’ll give him a few of Babian Fabian “The Grub” Hub’s steroids to get him going.

This is a between year for us once again. Our priority is getting out of the tax, and we’re pretty much there. Bonuses go to getting Haun and Asher traded for assets, but if not? We have another winning season on our hands, possibly heading back to the playoffs. If not, our future is bright, and many options lay in front of us.

Now, I have little time this preseason to write a totally baller presser like I always do, because I’m spending time with my family, and I haven’t seen them in almost 9 months. So all my PBSL’ing will be rushed until I’m back in the Bay.

Gimme all your questions!
Somehow I manage.

Sham Smith, Bulls.com: What's the long term plan to build around Markus Ridenhour and Fabian Grub and when do you see yourself going all in next?

Putting Ridenhour aside, which off-season acquisition are you most excited about for this season and/or beyond?

It’s a good question. I’m not sure what asset collection I’ll pull off to go all in on these two as I think they’ll peak separately, but it’s exciting to have them both. But, I will definitely make a push before the end of their contracts.

Well, no one acquisition has really knocked my socks off, but was cool picking up Hamilton and Jackson I guess. Neither will be in the long term plans but we’re happy to have them now.

Do you see yourself back in the playoffs next year? Why or Why not?

If Haun stays, I would not be surprised to see golden state back in the playoffs; however, we are looking to the future for a build around Hub, so if the right deal comes along we will make that move and likely kill any playoff hopes this year.

We have our pick next year, so missing the playoffs wouldn’t be a bad thing, but we’ve been so bad for so long that winning last year felt really, really good. And we don’t really want to stop winning either, especially if we can reset our tax while we do it.

Chet Youbetcha, Dimmadome News: With a mix of younger and older players, are you looking to move Asher and Haun at all in an attempt to get something to work towards a younger core?

100% yes. But if the right deals don’t come in, then I’m happy to stay pat for now. I moved Bone and Gauss for assets and maybe sold a bit quickly, but I haven’t seen the deals I want for haun or Asher yet.

Fresh off last season's stellar debut, what part of Fabian Hub's game are you looking to see improvements to avoid the dreaded sophomore slump?

Sophomore slump, eh? You tryna put the hex on Hub? How dare you.

We’re bringing Hub back into the starting lineup this year. We’ll see how he does. He did his best work off the bench last season but we want to push him now. Let’s see how he does as a ridiculously fast center.
