S53 Clippers Hangover Presser

Post by MexicanMamba »

When the Clippers' General Manager walked towards the podium, glassy eyed and taking far too careful of steps for someone to be stumbling the way that he was. His presence caused the media room to be filled with the tangy smell of some horrid concoction of sweat, shame, tequila, pasta sauce and maybe even some wine. The podium almost falls over, HE almost falls over, but they both precariously find their footing.

Ya know ... last season was cool for like 99.8% of it. Gerry Loreedo and Gordi Johnston made me happy. And happy. But then they turned on me and made me sad. I'm sure I'll never go back to the stupid city of Chicago again and I'll never hire anyone named Delmar or Lopez ever. And do you know how many Lopezes a Mexican businessman like me knows!? Really gonna do a number on my talent pool, let me tell ya.

We did get 69 wins though (he snorts out a chuckle). Nooooice.

After the Game 7 loss, I bought a bar/restaurant in Italy and that is where I've been until about an hour ago when I landed back in California. So, maybe I'm tired and drunk but, Frye it ... let's try figuring out what the hell happened this off-season so far :

Bye bye, Blakemore.

Hola Lynch!

The Pastor made me feel like we'd been blessed, but then he showed up to camp looking like a devil.

Leonard came back and should never have been allowed in.

The rest of the gang came back and are a year older and probably hungover like me.

I owe too much money.

Everyone on the roster can be had for the right price. (Yeah, deal with it, losers! You're still getting paid!)

But until they aren't on this roster it should look something like this-

Nnaji
Johnson
Lynch
Sterner
Loredo

We'll probably be pretty good again but not 69 good.

Anyways, ya'll got questions before I go pass out?

Justin Bieber; Teremana.com; What's your favorite Tequila drink? There's been rumors you are the Yankees of SIM league, high payroll but struggle to get that ring. Do you think this year the Clippers have the talent to win the Championship?

Can't go wrong with a good margarita, though I'm fond of pouring some Milagro Anejo over ice and maybe a dash of lime and sipping. As for the Yankees ... baseball is dumb, so I ignore the question! But yes, we have the talent to win a ring. I just don't know if I'm keen to keep it all in place considering the cost. We'll see though.

Scruff McGruff, Detroit detective analytics:
Any concerns with starting the season with the entire team on the trade block?

Not really. I've checked the temperature. Cohesion is still good among the guys. But they know there's pressure to get over the hump or there will be changes much sooner than later. If they can't take that challenge, can't rely on them anyways.

I can give you two.

Lack or rebounding.
No quality depth in the back court.

These guys dealt with the first last season just fine. The 2nd is a new issue once trading Blakemore and having Leonard and Haber fall flat in camp.

It was announced last night on Horns and ????? that you will share commish duties moving forward. How has this impacted your decisions in managing this team half drunk? How do you expect it to impact moving forward?
Somehow I manage.

Sham Smith, Bulls.com: With a very strong but expensive team, do you try to remain competitive with everyone on the block, or are you aiming for a complete rebuild? After rumors were abound that Jordan Johnson was so close to being traded in the offseason, would a retool or a reset be more preferred preferred, and which one is more likely?

If I got an offer for Loredo that really made sense for me, I'd be more inclined to reset. Until he's gone or TC rips him, it's worth to try to keep going. If anyone else goes? It's just about re-tooling.
