I'll do the unthinkable so the rest of you don't have to:
Varga.
Look, that ragtag bunch that he put together worked. I'm still not sure how, and I don't think it's sustainable, but it did. At worst hes looking at the 5th seed in a competitive playoff race, and that's with Old Man Sterner running PG all season and AVG talent in the node. There's some signings in UFA that are head scratchers (Paying Benton Stack 20mil per season and only playing him 8 minutes per game) but it's just fallen into place. It's not a case of just taking advantage of a bad schedule neither. The Knicks have beaten a lot of very good teams throughout the course of the season. I will be very interested in seeing how/if the regular season success translates into the post-season.
There are lots of good options this year. I'm going with one of them. Quail. Why?
This is a Quail ON year. When Quail is on, he's active, he's aggressive, and he's winning. He only does it every few seasons here or there but when he's on he is a force to be reckoned with. Moving on Wade right when Williams is starting to look his prettiest (even though his dunks just weren't quite pretty enough to beat Harold Foley), he cashed in some pieces to upgrade to Keller and held on to JJ, too. This is a tough team for anyone, including the favorites in Orlando (fully expect a GMOTY nod here too), and it was mostly because he came in super aggressive and built a fantastic team.
I would've loved to see Charlie take another shot at the championship, especially since he was able to navigate his way into keeping Zaire Wade. Instead, Charlie didn't double down at the expense of his team's future (when last year almost lost him Zaire without winning a title). So Charlie made a lot of really good moves, securing a player in Antonio Blakeney who will help him get to the top again sooner than later, getting younger with pieces like Nix and Lizarraga, getting a very strong season out of 34 year old Delmar, grabbing 47 wins and a playoff spot, and resetting his tax. From start to finish, I think all that's worthy of a GMOY vote.
No one else getting nominated? really? alright fine
false9
dude is having his best season since the boban days and he's built a stellar team. He finished with the best record, and now with the simputer down again, we still aren't able to see what he brings to the playoffs; however, he was an early favorite to win the title this season and arguably still is the favorite to win the title, even though the bucks had a strong finish to the season and an easy 4-n-out round 1 of the playoffs. so yeah, let's get false9 some appreciation
also mexicanmamba kinda because duh.
look, mamba didn't make the playoffs this year. seems like the wrong year, but he has a hibernating giant of a team readying themselves for the right time to explode (probably next year, we'll see), but next year's explosion was built on this year's and last year's (and the year before that after he blew his team up again) patience. also we cannot overlook the fact that roberto is probably the most sought after person for advice on moves to make or not make because any time i'm trying to get a deal done and talk to him about it he already knows the deal and the right move for both sides. that certainly didn't change this year. hell, he's writing full articles on it now. also not to give a commish preferential treatment simply for being commish, but dude has sustained more downed simputers in one season of pbsl than any other (i guess only josh) in the 20 some odd seasons that ive been around. on a more personal level, once he saw my recruit getting more active in the forums and stuff, he went out of his way to feel welcome, get questions answered etc., which may be par for the course for commishes, but it really helped my guy feel more acquainted.
so yeah, please consider the meximamba for your GMOTY vote. hes arguably GMOTDecade.
I'd like to nominate black superman. Why ? Well, it's pretty clear. Although his team is dripping with talent, he still was able to finish last in his division locking up a lottery pick while retaining his talent. Not convinced? Ok, hear me out. The Suns had 5 B/B talents on their team and 2 g/g talents. That's nearly double the talent than the knicks in the same Conference with half the wins. Which is the second part of my nomination. Not only was the Suns gm able to lose with a ton of talent, but they are also a very worth game planner on being able to ose with that much talent.

This is now the most confusing post in this thread.
I’ll nominate Ryan. He once again was below the radar, even after reading for Maker. He still almost had 60 wins and is for sure going to be a tough matchup and I think is going to be a for sure contender for the championship
Nominating Cavs GM for always trying to win each season but never makes it. This season, Cavs came up top of 76ers so I guess that's a first time win. Probably won't happen again either.
I'll nominate the Miami Heat GM. I think overall, looking at his entire roster, I would have never thought Heat would have make it to the playoffs. His team salary is low and no true elite player in the roster. Definitely a overachiever team
