S56 Magic Hour

Post by false9 »

Hello, friends. The simputer hasn't burst into flames yet, so we're still doing this.

It was supposed to be an invigorating season- cycling out of a rebuild to a contender. We pushed our chips in, bringing in Dort after day 60 to join Myke Henry, Kory Manley, and Mitchell Robinson. Where did that land us? Another elimination in the second round at the hands of the Spurs. Once again, it was a dark time in the Magic Kingdom.

And so came another listless offseason. We explored numerous trade possibilities but nothing concrete came together. So we ran it back- Kory Manley returned in RFA, and we welcomed back bench bros Roman Milam and Robert Mata. MLE money brought in the much disparaged essie Kavanaugh- here's hoping we can unlock his skill set.

As usual, the big question is: does this add up to a title contender? The power poll likes us, so maybe? We've still got assets left and we're still trying, so let's sim that day and find out.

With that, I'll take your questions.

What's the biggest hole on the roster that you see? And do you think there's a fix out there for you that's within your grasp?

Offensive rebounding, fouling, and turning the ball over could be a problem. I wouldn't say I'm looking to address those areas specifically, though. If there's a legitimate star to be acquired with the assets I have left, I will definitely explore that opportunity. We'll see after day 60.

Chet Youbetcha, Dimmadome News: if you had to compare your team to a PL team right now, which one would it be and why?

UTD- looking back at glory days wistfully, spending tons of money in the last decade with nothing to show for it.

Sham Smith, Bulls.com: How does switching conferences and being in a division with several tax delinquints and reset teams change your outlook on your season plan and your long term plan?

How many points do you REALLY expect for this presser and how many points would it take to move Myke?

Short term, it is less of a meat grinder compared to the previous division. But there's always going to be competition come playoff time.

Long term, I tend to operate a lot more in a vacuum these days. I try to keep focused on what keeps me engaged in the league, so long term tanking probably isn't in the cards. Factoring in tax prisoners and the perpetually bad makes it difficult to really super tank, so I'll always look to turn around quickly on any kind of reset.

Is this year championship or bust for your team and will you miss the Spurs v Magic annual playoff matchup?

Who do you see as your toughest competition on your way to a title?

It certainly looks like title or bust- Robinson and Dort are both 30 and this is my second season in the tax. I'd need a pretty compelling reason to run it back- another second round exit would not be good enough.

Eazy- I don't know if you are aware, but you have BEAT MY ASS since the first realignment. I was curious enough to look it up and it's even worse than I thought:

2044- Spurs in 6
2041- Spurs in 6
2039- Spurs in 5
2036- Spurs in 6

So would I say I'm going to miss it?

I am a glutton for punishment though- I'd love a chance to end this streak. That would require a Finals matchup though...

Seems like the usual suspects in conference- Bucks, Pistons, and Wizards all look strong to start. I'm sure there will be a surprise team after day 60 too, as there's always trade buzz going around. Anyone coming out of Alpha will be tough.
