New year, same me. Both in a PBSL standpoint and a real life standpoint. I am back in this new season to present an old article done all over again. When trying to think of fun ways to spend my day, I figured this might be a sure fire way to spend my morning drinking my coffee. So I went to the media page to look at some old articles I did and saw one that I remember enjoying. The end of the year buy a team with $15 article (viewtopic.php?f=7&t=10294&p=87388#p87388). The premise is pretty simple. You get fifteen dollars to your name to construct a team. A lot of the times I will see it with real life players from other sports, where people are looking to start a conversation on who really are the best players type thing. And I love to always try to get people thinking and discussing after reading my articles so it fits perfectly. Instead of it being at the end of the season all team list or all stars, I am going to do it differently and do purely Restricted Free Agents and Unrestricted Free Agents. Look at it as kind of a primer for this upcoming season of sorts.
So there will be tiers that each player will fall into. The higher ranked players will be in the higher tiers (players I consider the best five dollars, right under them four dollars, and so on.) The way I pick these players in their tiers is entirely opinionated on me and might not even be accurate. So please do not get upset if the guy you think should be four dollars is in the two dollar tier, just enjoy having extra money.
The five dollar tier was really easy to do. Just go to your highest potential and choose the five best players. Easy peasy, lemon squeezy. Admittedly, I put Wade as a forward, which he can play, when he is a natural guard. Everything after the five tier gets a little hairy. The problem here is how are you going to build your team? Do you want a win now or a team that has the best potential and growth? Tier four for the most part is built on players that can provide both, but it leaned more towards helping now, especially having Felicio and Blakemore on there. Also this is hands down the people that have the hardest names to spell… The three dollar tier was a little easier to choose from. Most players can contribute to a win now team, or people who can develop into good players. The two and one tiers are mostly players that are older who you risk having TC kill or are players who could be interesting fits on teams and present either growth or surprising results in an expanded role.
The way I would divy up my money would be. Zaire Wade ($5), Brendon Silva ($9), Nicholas Lynch ($12), Jesse Kavanaugh ($14), and Fred Chatham ($15). This team to me presents a solid core of win now players who would probably play well on the hypothetical contracts that they would get.
