Season 54 OKC Presser

Post by AngryBanana »

Good morning everyone. I hope you all had a well rested summer, as we here in Oklahoma did not. Between the season we had last year and how excited we are for this season, we could barely sleep.

First let’s go over last season. With the addition of Hintz, Odell, and Tubbs to the starting rotation, we get we had a good team that was maybe a little underrated. We performed well in the regular season, winning our conference. We made a move for Leiker instead of Burnham, feeing that our team needed guard depth more than another big man. We lost in the playoffs after some players failed to show up and bad gameplanning on our part. Oh well it is what it is.

This offseason we wanted to add another player to this starting rotation to help with scoring. We tried to go for the heavy hitters in Delmar and Tex, but ultimately fell short in those deals, where we just did not have enough to offer. We then struck a deal with the clippers for Sterner who should fit in wonderfully at PG for this team. We then brought back Hintz on a good deal, and brought in some depth players. All in all I was content with our FA period. Training camp was also pretty fair, Wade is at a point where I think he is in his prime (same for Maker) and I think Hintz had a great camp as well. This team has a very balanced approach and I feel we can compete with most teams. I might be able to pivot for another role player, but I feel good with the roster I have. I think our team is in prime position to win the division and is a top 4 team in PBSL. Finally going over the cap hopefully will show that I did what I needed to get a championship.

Starting 5:
Sterner
Wade
Hintz
Maker
Tubbs

Sham Smith, Bulls.com: Despite hits to athleticism, David Leiker still retains a lot of important PG skills. With Sterner and Odell Rasberry, however, how does he fit into your rotation if at all?

Speak more about Sterner's fit on the roster. You said you went after other fish, but now with Scary Terry, what is it about his game that excites you most in your lineup?

I wasn’t sure what to do with my backup PF David Leiker. I had a feeling one of Leiker and Odell would get hit so that’s why I wanted to bring both back. I wanted to see where preseason would play him at and how he would fare and kinda go from there. He did not foul a lot so I think he will be a backup two guard moving forward for us and will be an asset in the event someone gets hurt.

Sterner’s offensive skills are something that my team has been missing I think for a few seasons, both short and long term.

Long term: I think with Zaire Wade as the best facilitator on my team, it’s not a bad spot, but isn’t ideal. He is a SG who could play PG if needed. Sterner allows me to put Wade at the 2, and have someone who can still pass the ball and facilitate.

Short term: I mentioned it some earlier, but last season our team was pretty bad on the offensive end. So I needed to add another weapon on that side to help out. Sterner fills that bill. Most importantly in that regard, he can shoot the three ball. Something else my team last year really struggled with at times.

Brad "Broken Leg" Bachelor, ESPN: You managed to pick up John Stoll in the offseason, allowing him to continue his illustrious career. What sort of role will he have on the team? He deserves everything he has coming, even if that means sending him to the gallows.

Justin Bieber, Teremana.com; During this offseason, you spend over $70 mil more from last year team salary. Oklahoma City fans expect a ring for this year. If Thunder does not finish top 4, do you consider your season a failure?

Preseason looks like it just picked up where you left off last season with your starting 5 playing smothering defense to lead the way. With some new faces on the bench how do you see them contributing to this brand of Thunder basketball?

From the outset, you and the 76ers look like a couple of the toughest teams in Omega this year. How do you fare against them head to head, and do you win the regular season battle??
Somehow I manage.

How fat was David Leiker coming into TC? Probably the biggest TC loss I've ever seen

As of now Stoll is the Stool of the bench. He is not IR but he is also getting 0 mins.

Side note: your nickname disturbs me and I have shuddered 15 times since seeing your name.

Yeah, if we do not make it to the conference finals I could see it being a failed season. We have gone to the second round with less talent.

Honestly most of the team is a hold over from prior iterations of the team. However the big addition of Sterner I think will for sure keep consistency with the grit type of play we expect of our players.

I think it might be either home winners for both respective clubs or he holds an advantage in the regular season. His team will be firing on all cylinders early on and he might steal a game.
