I didn't have time to do a presser (or anything else) AMA

JK APRIL FOOLS

JK again.

Okay look, did I judge Tray a little bit when he became less involved in Sim League due to cited family obligations? He who came up with the acronym for SLOE (Sim League Over Everything)? You bet I did. I still wish he'd come back. But everyone that has kids gets it, and now I get it. It's hard to understand the commitment, level of responsibility, and just amount of shit you have to do and the lack of time you have to do it in.

So I haven't been able to put much into sim league lately. If there's one thing that's always been a belief of mine, it's that effort, activity, focus, attention, etc. to sim league is a competitive advantage. Over the past few seasons, I've lost that competitive advantage, and I'm not sure what comes after that? What comes after you're not quite as good at this thing you used to really like to do? Well, it does become a little less fun. Sure, I can field teams, some will be good, some will be bad, but ultimately my seasons are judged by whether or not the 'Past Champs' page says 'Nuggets' in the left hand column at the end of the year.

That said, I'm not quitting, at least not yet. Maybe I'll get comfortable with this level of mediocrity, maybe I'll draft some god-like player that gets me excited again. But for now, I'm just putting in the minimum effort to barely stay afloat (like this presser).

As far as my team, I jettisoned Haile and Nnaji (who really should be a PF but was blocked (no pun intended) by Campbell) in exchange for Turney - who I never should have traded out of Denver in the first place. Then I bid on 8 max-worthy players in UFA 1 with my remaining $29m in cap space. I signed the 8th best one on my list, but hey Don Sanchez can play a competent PG, and that's more than you can say for the ragtag bunch that manned that spot last year. I figured I could sign the rest of my rotation in UFA2. Then I missed it. I thought about putting in bids around 11am, then my day got crazy, and I missed it. So I took whatever scraps were available in UFA3 to fill my empty Center and backup spots and only got a couple.

Thanks to an uncharacteristically decent TC that saw my 18th pick (7'4" Center Kraig Cornett) go green, Campbell get his mojo back, and none of the old guys dying, some hope was salvaged. So with Andy's patience and help, I learned how waivers worked and signed a bunch of maybe decent guys as well.

Not sure how we're lining up yet because I haven't had the time, but hey, who knows. AMA

Chet Youbetcha, Dimmadome News:
1 .Have you ever considered doing a slow build approach to your team, where decisions are not required on a nearly non stop basis to try to be a championship team?

I mean, it rarely works, tbh. So no. Also then, I'd have to bottom out / tank. Which doesn't feel exactly right either.

Random Reporter: Seems like we're of similar minds heading into the season. Is there anything that you could see happening during the season to spark your interest?

Joel Osteen, dadsgonewild.com: I feel your pain and frustration. Don't forget, alcohol was invited to help men balance personal life and SIM responsibilities. It works really well for me. Don't hesitate to visit my website if you need assistance. Good luck.

Sham Smith, Bulls.com: It seems like the only question mark in your lineup is C. Who will be your starter, and will Kraig "Trumpetman" Cornett be given some run for a potential ROY campaign?

Might be my favorite presser question. I’m doubling down. Do you have any drunken sim league achievements or failures? I’ll say my nearest drunken failure was not bidding Pearman, but sober the next morning, rescinded my $22m/1yr blakemore bid. Greatest drunken sim league achievement?

“Yes Josh, I would love to join sim league”

Honestly, probably not, haha. Unless I swing a trade for Dort and watch the league burn with anger. Hang on, got a PM to send.

Lol, no idea. The simputer had Navarra get most of those minutes and that’s probably right, but Cornett might win ROY if I can get him 20 mpg...
