Doug. And I'll just copy my reasoning from my recent article:

I’d absolutely hate for Doug to feel like he wasn’t getting enough hugs for his GM’ing skills this season, so I will put him at #1! In all seriousness though, I liked a lot of what Doug managed to pull off this season. The major one is acquiring De’Aron Fox (and getting Grinder for free), but even that deal could not have been possible if not for the pieces he obtained by trading Justin Rodriguez to the 76ers earlier. The Joshua Mitchell acquisition was also a strong one to help fully form his starting 5 for the playoff run.

I want to nominate thesyndicate for the work he did with the Nuggets throughout the whole season. He didn't make the playoffs last season after a disappointing season, but this year he made moves in the offseason and during the regular season to put together a strong team that I wouldn't count out as being a contender for the championship. Have to recognize the improvements he made.

He's also dealt with a ton of injuries and just kept making his team better where most GMs would get down and consider tearing it apart.

I’d like to nominate K100 for GMoY this year.

His long term build is coming along nicely. He stayed patient with his core when most were telling him to sell some pieces for a win now approach, like some of the other newer GMs, and is now reaping the benefits. He resigned Wiseman to a long term deal, he traded for Rodriquez, and brought in McRae (who are his top 3 performers. Toppin managed to have a good season after a bad injury, and Winston took a big step forward this year too. K100 is looking at his potentially first division crown and making a real difference in the playoffs for the first time in his GM career.

I nominate Xist2inspire for GMoY.

He may not have been confident in the offseason, but he stuck true to a team that will take best record this season, without competition. They have the greatest point differential and allow the fewest amount of points of any team. Xist hasn't made any big moves with his team recently and hasn't needed to. He's played the long game with great players realizing their potential now. I think they're the team to beat this playoff run!
Somehow I manage.

I'm nominating MexicanMamba for GMOY.

Early on in the season, he made great moves to bring in talent in order to compete. While the start of the season wasn't as strong as he had hoped, it was still promising. But it wasn't promising enough to turn down an offer to trade Sabo, a Top 10 talent and current franchise player, and start building for the future in earnest - an offer he stuck to his word and accepted even after his team finally solidified into a legitimate threat. And even though he's now firmly in the start of his rebuilding phase, his excellent gameplanning and teambuilding has put together what is sure to be a 50+ win squad, still competing for the division (and conference!) title with a sim left to go. That's simply incredible for any GM, let alone one who will readily admit that he's still learning the ropes. I think that's more than enough to earn GMOY consideration.

A vote for false9 is a vote for simulation basketball excellence.

After another attempt to run things back last year with the old crew, Andy decided to shake things up a little. He decided to give Schumann the keys to the Magic Kingdom, and boy did Schumann accept the challenge. Career highs in PER, PPG, TS%, Rebounding... He responded will. Richard Hunt (nicknamed Dick Hunt) also rebounded after an off year last season, looking like his former self. Andy also recalibrated his squad's trajectory by adding up-and-coming wing Ronnie Reynolds to his squad at the expense of the Pacers. Rumor has it that despite only playing 5-6mpg for Indianapolis, Reynolds was a lockerroom leader and voice. Losing him started the end of Indy... but his influence catapulted the Magic back up the standings.

In the Alpha (specifically Mourning division), all the talk had been about the star-studded 76ers squad... but the Magic overtook them for division leader and stayed on top majority of the way. That speaks volumes to false9's ability as a GM and a coach.

HE DESERVES YOUR VOTE

Since nobody's brought up one GM who deserves to be in the conversation, I'm nominating ballsohard.

The Pistons are a hideously expensive team, but looking at Omega, they're well worth it. They ended the season on a 15 game tear to take 1st seed overall in the conference, and they have a lineup that is packed with talent from top to bottom that they put in place over a few seasons. However, they were still able to make moves to improve--like getting Ernest Long for Derick Hunter.

While they spent big on Elisha Davis (34mm flat for 5 years IS egregious), they were able to mitigate what would've been crippling, seasons-long tax damage by dishing Irvine and Kowalczyk to the Rockets.

Most importantly, the Pistons engineered a huge turnaround, addressing any weak spots and perfecting their game plan to surge into that top spot...a feat accomplished only by the finest of GM-work in every aspect of the regular season game.

I'd like to nominate Garageman

Sure, did he just nominate me, yes? But ni have tremendous respect for the work he does on the regular with his team.

Let's look at the things that make a GMOY
  • Financial Responsibility
The Bulls are only 13 M over the cap while sitting in first place in the conference and only giving 2 games for roughly an 84 M in roster exchange.
  • Made strong Roster Moves
Allen out Bomba in. Kuzma on a discount. Did not overthink roster moves, which is an underrated quality.
  • Has a winning culture/ Season
2nd in the Omega and #3 overall seed in the league. Speaks for itself.
  • Has an eye for the future
The Bulls have all of their draft picks after this year in tact. They also have Brooks Jackson, Felecio, and Mitchell all 23 and under.

This list and not the under the table promise for a TC bump is the reason im nominating Garbageman!
