S47 Nuggets Presser

Post by TheSyndicate »

Last year:
So we didn't have our pick, and we only had a couple of rookies on the books, so we shot for the moon in UFA and got a dazzling amount of talent to sign. We would have absolutely called 3 signings a big success, and well, we got 5. They were: Stoll, Bjorn, Garvin, Howard, and Kirkendall. An absolutely monster haul. We didn't get much in the way of complimentary pieces, and so we felt like we probably weren't going to win a championship that season without some luck. So we prioritized getting under the luxury tax cap to reset our repeater status. We made a deal to essentially give Kirkendall and Howard away, and figured we would cruise to a playoff spot on the backs of Garvin, Stoll, and Bjorn. Then the luck DID strike. It was, however, not the luck we were looking for. Major injuries to all of the 'big 3' left our team on the outside looking in come playoff time. In a year where we didn't have our own draft pick, that was a colossal failure.

This offseason:
Firstly, we've replaced our entire medical, strength, and conditioning staff; hired a registered dietician; and spent a pretty penny upgrading our medical facilities. If our players suffer the number and severity of injuries as last season, it'll be on them, because we as an org have done our part. To surround our big 3, we brought in a VERY solid Center in Wanderlei Silva. Silva has championship experience, and will be a core part of our competitive team this year. We also have quite the contingent of front-court role players to compete for playing time. We'll most likely make a move to consolidate them, or move them for backup backcourt members.

This season:
We'll be competing for the big prize with our talent and depth, and looking to make moves to improve. And if it doesn't work, whelp, at least we have our pick.

Any questions!?

How much of a role will Tracy Sullivan play for you this season whom many are calling Magic Johnson's not-as-good grandson.

We think he can play a little bit. We’ll look for him to give Stoll a breather when we can.

With some good players that are young (Campbell, McAlister), a really good point guard in his prime, and an abundance of at the edge of the prime players, you seem to be at a crossroads. Do you see one of those young players have a high impact on your squad this year? If so, which one and what are they anticipated to acheive?

Do you think the addition of Silva is the key to a championship run this season?

Listen, both guys are very good young players. We can’t just sell the whole farm, so one or both will need to be contributors at some point. Campbell should be a dominant 2-way forward in a season or two. He’ll definitely see minutes this year. McAlister can go a lot of ways, very versatile player, and we look forward to what he may accomplish moving forward

Sham Smith, Bulls.com: Domingo McKoy scored a lot of points for you in a starting role during preseason. Will we see him for 30 minutes a game, or will his role be reduced?

Probably not 30 minutes, no. But we like him as the focal point of our second unit.
