Though he might not have the season he did last year, I'm nominating MexicanMamba for GMOY.
1. After winning a championship, he was able to get under the apron and still is currently in the 3rd seed in the Omega Conference.
2. He traded Boban Marjanovic to one of the most successful GMs and got back a nice bounty of Terry Sterner, Zeke Nnaji, Doug Harris, and Chris Pallies. His record is currently better than the Orlando Magic.
3. He traded Bryce DeJean-Jones to the Pelicans for their best player in Colby Lopez and a 2038 1st. This move got him under the tax. His record is currently better than the New Orleans Pelicans.
4. He managed to keep Glen Sabo despite the slimiest advances from thee Bucks.
Managing to tear down in a post-championship year while remaining competitive and resetting the tax is a pretty accomplished feat for someone who's been doing this for less than 10 seasons.
Damn Mamba doing everything just slightly better than greeps...
ANYway
I nominate the commish, the g-man himself, the garbageman. With the best record in the league by 7 games (and in his conference by 11.5) to date, he also reduced his cap to not be the highest in the league through some lower level salary shedding and good deals to other GMs whether or not those deals were executed (by keepit100). Sitting firmly in the top 5 of categories such as points scored/allowed, assists and steals, free throw % and all things 3-pt related, offensive AND defensive efficiency and effective FG%, the only thing standing in the way of garbage day on game 4 of the finals is de'aaron fox.
Well, this wasn't planned or anything but I'm going with the Bulls' Garbageman. It would've been easy for him to stand pat after last season and just make another push with the same core that won 68 games. He decided to go big right off the bat though by trading for Grayson Allen. He made a couple shrewd pick-ups throughout the season as well, such as Haynes, Erickson, Baratheon and trading for Kuzma. He'll lead the league in wins again and be the favorite going into the playoffs again. Obviously He'll hope for a better outcome but he put in the work to try to ensure it instead of simply hoping.
EDIT : As a posted this I see he was already nominated minutes before me ha. So, uh, gimme the GM of those goons in Detroit again! They went big this season trying to get into the title hunt and though they've battled the injury bug, they're in prime position to raise some hell.
I'm nominating digiskunk for GMOY. It takes a true man of genius to look at oneself and say "you know what, the computer does this thing better than me". And as a result of deferring to recommended, the Jazz have had the best season in recent memory. A lot of other GMs would've tried tweaking their lineups or getting under the lux tax... but that's not what a wildcard does. Gary for GMOY
I’m nominating logpmess. He turned his team from a bottom dweller to a contender. He traded for a premier guard and didn’t lose quality future in the process. I could say more, but...
