Color ratings are optional, and while they make sifting through FAs easier, overall it helps to make people color blind to production

As an aside, from a technical point of view, this is easy enough to code into the update scripts. So it is definitely a feasible option.

Don't care either way. Though traping will be harder without colors.

I am for color rating, they do serve a purpose, if you can read between the colors

How many times have we see b/b or g/g guys who dont play up to their colors? See Tharon Mayes, Marcus Liberty, Nick Anderson.

The only real negative that we have at this point is loss of perceived value. That is that, if you could trade for x amount for your g/g player, the x amount is now lower because your player is y/y (changed for Inner GI) now. Until we see something harder than, "Some people will think my player is less valuable," Thus far, we dont know of any other negative effects in TC or production-wise, nor should we as long as attributes stay the same. Players have always under and over performed their colors. I just think with the new change we'll see yellow players matter more, which isnt a bad thing.

I just don't see a viable reason to change something that some GMs (whether you agree or disagree personally), we know use these colors to build their teams. If the change is something that could cause disinterest/quitting in some of the more casual GMs, I dont see the point in going through with it

I had a guy go from g/b to y/y I don't understand why but at same time I don't really care. Wig first explained colors to me way back in the other league he ran. He said something along the lines of they are nice to look at and can help ya start to gameplan because the blues are probably the other teams key players.

I still want to keep the colors they are helpful if you don't feel like deep diving into the ratings. I also don't think colors make people colorblind to production. Production is pretty black and white. Was it Wayman Tisdale back in the day ? He was y/y if I remember correctly but still scoring 20 ppg he had value bc he could score but was yellow because he was undersized and didn't defend if I remember correctly

Yeah, it was Wayman. Loved that guy.

It's an annoyance, but I'm curious as to just how this thing works. I feel like if we can get a handle on this, it won't be as big of an issue. I know size and athleticism are huge factors.

From talking to 78 about ijbl league, it seems that yellow/yellow and red/yellow type players can make huge impacts on that league while green/green won't do shit. Seems like that's what this league is turning to with these fluctuations. I'm down for color changes.

Remove the Colors after the championship this season. This will give people time to adjust. Post a sticky for people to discuss the "decoding." It is better for each person if everyone else understands ratings to fair deals can be made rather than risking having to hedge because the buyer will can understand the value if each player. Fewer trapes, so jam those in while you can.
There's no "I" in team, but you can find "Eat me" if you push it too far.

We can just change the tiers in the game to the same color.

Re: No More Color Ratings

Did some testing tonight. The "unexplained" change in color ratings is definitely due to the "historical modifiers" changing (e.g., teams shot fewer three pointers in 1980 than in 2010, so a player with a 99 rating in 1980 who will launch 1 or 2 a game gets much less "Credit" toward colors than a player does in 2010 where he could launch 8 per game).

We could turn historical modifiers off, which won't necessarily restore everyone to where they were (because last year was ALSO subject to historical modifiers) but should ameliorate the issue of changing colors without ratings changing going forward since the modifier will no longer change season to season.

I think no historical modifiers is a fair middleground. It will keep color boxes on the index and shoukdnt fluctuate like it has been doing this offseason.

Im for ridding the color boxes completely, but if the league still wants something to scan through quickly I dont see the harm in it. I feel some have become dependent on the boxes since the day of creation draft, but that's for each GM to decide how active they want to be in scouting players.

No historical modifiers would cause a big shakeup in color boxes, so this could get very interesting.

Historical modifiers off would be a good middle ground.
