I'm being told that after trying to trade for win-now pieces Bruce Bowen and Steve Smnith failed, the Celtics GM is quietly shopping Boston hero Alonzo Mourning. Being told he wants his cake and eat it to for the aging future hall of famer, but the value may not be there.

Always active Bucks GM Ian Quailman has yet to make any noise this offseason, but this will be a vital offseason to the Buck's plans. If they don't play their hand perfect, they'll be stuck as a mid seed in the weak east almost destroying any chance they'll reach their goal of winning their first franchise championship with this core.

Word on the street that one former GM of the PBSL can't stay away and has been lurking around league circles trying to get a feel on the landscape.

Raptors GM Soun Dwave quietly (for once) confident about his team. Isn't looking to make any more major moves but knows he needs some depth. Some in the organization feel with the possibility of the Bucks losing in UFA, they'll have a real shot at the division title for years to come.

Hawks GM is listening to potential deals to shake-up the team, but is very happy with the overall depth he's acquired and opposing GMs would have to "blow him" away.

Scuttlebutt out of Sacramento is that the Kings were very pleased with Lorenzo Williams' ability to handle the media hype last year and are looking to offer him a long term deal.

Hearing a lot of noise from player agents that the hot commodity in this year's market is size. Teams are lining up to throw money at big men.

Fans in Seattle are disappointed that franchise star Doug Christie was shipped to Boston for draft picks. GM Trell has not been seen in town since; the team claims he is personally visiting with free agents around the league trying to sell them on Seattle.

Tharon Mayes was seen today at Zales buying an enormous diamond ring. Apparently he thinks he is getting paid.

Sources close to the Spurs front office say they are preparing for a substantial offer to numerous big men. When asking one front office rep, he responded "We love big men. There are many big men on the market that can satisfy our needs. We are hungry for the intense D." When asked which big men they were pursuing, the rep replied "We have enough holes to be filled by a few big men. We need to get to work and show them that we are open to taking them in."
Sources close to Dale Davis's camp report that after hearing what the Spurs front office said in the earlier report, he has cut off all negotiations with the team. When asked why: "I'm not a piece of meat."

Rumor is Christie was upset with the direction of the team and the powerful West Pacific Division. The new FO of the Supersonics wanted picks for younger & fresher players while being able to compete. Let see how this free agency pans out.

Christie hasn't ruled out the possibility of returning if the roster is shaped with both younger energized guys and good veterans. The Sonics won't mind to have him back.

Conflicting with earlier statements, sources are now reporting that there is an irreparable rift between Doug Christie and the Sonics front office. Those in Christie's camp say the divide began with the new GM calling in Mike Iuzzolino to the office and telling him that he is the face and future of the franchise. Christie's camp then claimed that his locker was moved next to the handicap stall in the lockerroom. "That stall wasn't the only thing that left a insurmountable stench in the air," says a source close to Christie.
After repeatedly being shopped throughout the draft, Christie was fed up with the organization and blasted them to Boston media outlets. Christie was very vocal about wanting to go to the East Coast to a team that could compete instantly, "unlike that of that smoldering pile of dog**** that is the Sonics". "I feel sorry for the fans. I had a great time growing with that organization over the years, but could clearly see that it was a downhill ride that I just needed to rip cord and eject myself from," Christie's source quoted. After refusing to play for any team the Sonics attempted to trade him to, the Sonics were forced to take measly compensation for the star wing player. It seems highly unlikely that Christie will be seen in Green and Gold ever again.

Sources say the Bulls and Cavs have not yet reached out to any unrestricted free agents. Team insiders believe they are quite content to try a championship run with the players already on roster.

Sources tell me that Celtics GM although happy to have signed Terrell Brandon and a project of a Center Michael Doleac, beleive an accounting error may have contributed as to why round 1 FA was not more of a sucess.

Follow up:

In order to discover what caused the error, we tried to interview the man in charge of the Celtic's finances, but were told he was indisposed at the time. We were then able to snap this picture of the man, seemingly fawning over a single dollar. He stayed this way for hours ignoring our requests for an interview.

I'm hearing that the Wolves GM only approached two free agents, and neither of them felt the money was enough so they signed with other teams. The Wolves still have a lot of money but with most of their coveted targets gone, they face a steep uphill climb in finding pieces to fill their glaring number of holes.

Even so, GM JNR was quoted as saying that he's got some plans that, if successful, "could make our team as good as it was last year."
