2028-2029 OKC Pre-season Press Conference

Post by AngryBanana »

Welcome everyone back to another year of Thunder basketball! I am going to keep this pretty short since I feel nothing monumental has happened for us from last year to this year.

Firstly, in retrospect, I am happy with the way my players performed last year. We took the challenge of being in a new environment, and after some adjustments, finished the year strong. I think we have a great core of players here who I think will help this team in the next few years. It is funny thinking about it actually because the year prior, when we made the playoffs, people were saying how we might not have deserved it as much as a team from the other conference (we were a sub .500 team, where there were teams in the East who missed the playoffs with a winning record). Well, we kinda fell into the same situation last year but was on the other side of it, where we had a winning record but was not in the playoffs and the Omega conference had a sub .500 team in the playoffs. Oh well...

Anyways, we brought back all of our players that we placed a premium on, even if we overpaid ALL of them. I am still learning the art of negotiating contracts. However, I think Winkler is still the best player on this team, Vincente is lights out from 3 and Clifton is such a great prospect. We drafted Basil Garden who I think will be a decent scorer off the bench and we brought in a bunch of players we think can be quality depth pieces. I think we are finally in a position to win and our salary this year is pointed that way as well for the first time. I will be starting Pete, Clifton, Vincente, Nathaniel and Eckbert.

Now let me know what questions y'all have!

What would you consider a successful season? Division title? Advancing to the second round?

Sham Smith, Bulls.com: Which teams, if any, that finished above you in the Alpha Conference last year do you think are weaker than the Thunder this season?

With the Spurs' sudden reset, do you see yourself as a contender for the Division? If so, which teams are you most worried about?

Well this is all speculation as of now, but there are a few teams that I hope I will pass in terms of talent and record. Among them are the teams in my own division. This is a tough Conference and I think it shows by the amount of talented teams we have.

I am afraid to say the Spurs are reseting when they still have Djean-Jones and a pretty good top heavy team. I do hope to be a contender for the division and will be worried about the Spurs and Kings who are both always a good team for as long as I have been around.

I am hoping to get to the second round of the playoffs this year. Division title would be nice as well!

I think this is a year where we put our best hand forward with our current deck. So.... Yeah, I guess you could say I am ALL IN.

More so than Flip Gordon at least.

Do you guys have any plans of returning to Seattle?

We have seriously considered moving back in the past when the team was bad, we have also considered bringing back the classic Sonics brand as well. I would not rule out either moving forward.
