San Antonio Spurs Preseason Presser 2027

Post by Eazy P »

Good Morning and welcome this season's San Antonio Spurs Preseason presser. Today you could have been anywhere else but you are here. First off the team will like to the the city of San Antonio and fans for their support. They stuck with this team during a good bit of downs seasons and were patient in waiting for us to reach our goal of bringing another title home. This past season was a success. We reached the goal we had set in front of us even tho the GM was on cruise control for personal reasons we won't discuss here. We had to go through some great teams and GMs to win it another championship for the city of San Antonio. The Pelicans, Kings, Nuggets (who eliminated us 2 seasons in a row) and Sixers.

The guys on this team worked hard and completed the challenge last season but now there's a new challenge. The challenge of repeating and the division/conference shakeup. This will be something different for this group and I think they will be well prepared. We brought most of our guys back from last season except one and have some new faces who want to help us win again. We know it wont be easy. It's never easy when you become the hunted. Talked to Bryce and Jeff Bower after TC and they said they are ready for the challenge and they are willing to do what it takes to win. There's one thing I will miss and that's the Rockets/Spurs Division rivalry. This division rivalry has been going on since the beginning of SLOE but we are still in the same conference so it should still be fun playing his guys 3 times a season. I know I rambled enough about nothing but if anyone have any questions I will try and answer them to the best of my ability. Again thank you for joining us this morning.

What do you see as the biggest obstacle to a Spurs repeat?

Off the top of my head I think my biggest obstacles would be the Nuggets, Hawks, King, Bulls. This conference is tough and the nuggets added Arron Donald to his squad. We basically have our same team from last season but some of the other teams got better. Hopefully we can overcome these obstacles and repeat.

At the moment This may be the final season of trying with this core. There are a bunch of factors playing a role in our decision of this being the final season with this current group of guys. It's no secret our tax bill is high but if it can get us another title it will be worth it.

Sham Smith, Bulls.com: The Spurs are in tax jail right now, but you still have plenty of great players on multi-year deals. What is a higher priority: winning another championship or getting your finances in order?

With a perfect pre-season, is it fair to say that the Spurs are the class of the Alpha Conference?

I know you said you will miss the Rockets but the Spurs-Kings division rivalry should be pretty spicy or do you think you'll handle Sacramento easily?

Winning another Championship is number 1. Tax jail would be worth it if we can win again. It would be worth the sacrifice. We all play his game to win and sometimes, well most of the time it comes at a price and that price is the Tax. I was lucky to sign a few players back from last season who were either a RFA or a UFA that opt out of a player option. If the season goes down hill there will be a fire sale.

I am not going to say we are. We will leave that up the media to debate about. There a team in Chicago, Sacramento, Denver, Portland and Atlanta who will have something to say. I don't underestimate any of those teams because those guys are good at what they do and could be one major trade away from winning it all.

It's different. Looking forward to this change. Been in this league since the origins and have been in the same division/conference for a while with the only change being having the divisions set up like the current NBA once we added a few more franchises. I have to get used to being in this division. I think this will be a fun division tho.

Yes I will miss that Rockets rivalry. This Kings/Spurs matchup will be fun. Two vet GMs in the same division for the 1st time ever. The Kings won't be a cake walk. It took our team 7 games to beat them in the 2nd round of the playoffs last season. The Kings will be stiff competition and we are looking forward to the challenge. I am sure he is too.

It’s good to have you back from cruise control. Given the postseason success you had cruising, any chance you’ll let things ride more going forward?

Not sure if I will go cruise control this season but it is an option. I mean if this team can continue to build from last season and everything is going great I may take the if it aint broke don't fix it approach. Sometimes that don't always work. I really think this season will be tougher than last to just cruise through.
