Magic 2025/2026 Presser

Post by false9 »

Hello, friends. They say good things come to those who wait. Unfortunately, this ain't it. Let's start with a quick recap on last season.

When I made the move for Andrew Wiggins, I thought we'd be pretty good, but didn't see myself as a serious title threat. My main priority was finally unleashing Boban and hoping to see him be a beast. Unfortunately, he "only" averaged 16 points per game. I was further disappointed when we fell short of the Division, but 57 wins still left me relatively satisfied. I thought I was facing a quick playoff exit, but somehow navigated through three tough opponents in the Eastern Conference. Sure, Ryan swept my ass out of the Finals, but it was an overall success.

Considering the deep playoff run, Wiggins' age, and Young and Jackson's upcoming RFA, I knew this would be a pivotal offseason. Our first move was supermaxing Josh Jackson- he's still got a lot of untapped potential, and I hope one day he delivers on that.

Next was Trae Young- we deliberated heavily over potential moves with a sign and trade, but ultimately decided to bring him back. With that in mind, we sold off Scott Ramos to the Nuggets- I'll forever value him more than I should for a yellow/yellow player, but Trae would be getting the heavy minutes at PG.

Having been battered inside by the Nuggets, we moved Douglas Barber and some points to bring Jarvis Chambers back into the fold. I think his inside abilities will be a huge boost off the bench.

The squad was fortunate enough to survive training camp- those who took hits were still playable, and Boban and Chuck Gilbert got a nice boost. I'm excited about the team I have. With the salary we're carrying, my expectations are to be a title contender. We're off to a hot start, but it's a long season.

I'll take your questions now.

Sham Smith, Bulls.com: You're off to a 7-0 start. How many wins would be a good over-under for a steak bet?

60 is a nice round number- I like my team, but as always the East will be tough and there are plenty of sims left.

How does it feel to have the most magical team in the league right now? And as it relates to that are other GM’s getting defensive and saltier than a Vegas casino margarita because of this?
