Rockets GM Calls Out the Spurs for Horford Accusations

The Houston Rockets GM has called out the San Antonio Spurs for comments made by their general manager accusing the Rockets great of using performance enhancing drugs to maintain his high level of play at age 39 and suggested that the Rockets organization should be investigated during a preseason press conference.

Eazy: "Horford is on performance enhancing drugs IMO. We will request to send USADA to the rockets facility to investigate why he is still blue at 40. I expect him to be rocket 2 more seasons and retire as a Blue/Blue player. Then someone within the rockets organization coming out with a book talking about how during the latter part of his career he was on roids."

The Rockets GM strongly pushed back against the accusations. "It's unbelievable someone would accuse Al of cheating after all this time. He's a true warrior, a true hero and I think it's a bunch of crap. I'm not surprised it's coming from that organization. They're tired of being second class in the Southwest Division so they're trying to take down Al anyway they can. And then they accuse our organization for being willing participants. Screw them. Have someone take a look over here and see what they find. Go ahead. We have nothing to hide."

The Rockets have won the Southwest Division 4 out of the last 5 seasons though the Spurs made the playoffs for the first time in 6 years winning 50 games and finishing second in the division. Horford will be entering his 19th season in the league including a record a 18th season for the Rockets. The Spurs are a popular pick to win the Southwest and Western Conference. That hasn't stopped the Rockets from expressing their confidence entering the season.

"We know the Spurs are gonna be tough and we respect the kind of team they have, but we're not rolling over for anyone and we still feel we're the team to beat in the division and now we're even gonna be more motivated to win the division again and continue our push to win the Western conference. Those guys will be in for a rude awakening next time we see them."

The Rockets will travel to San Antonio on December 27th for their first meeting of the year.
