This is why democracy sucks here. All the people with morals and ethics are punished with this kind of nonsense.

No vote Scott, just iron fist this shit bro.

Let's maybe slow down with inferring that people who play the game within the rules are without morals and ethics...

Maybe morals was the wrong word. But ethics... i'll stand by that one. I find it unethical and ive always thought it was. I've never not played my best players, never benched top guys. Goes against what i think is right. Is it wrong to point that out?

I'm not sure how the Warriors benching Enes Kanter punishes anyone but the Warriors, but that's because there's a difference in what I, as an individual, consider ethical. What I don't consider ethical would be if the commissioner went against the popular vote because it went against one dude's ethical interpretations. If there's a clear line we can draw for tanking that everyone agrees on, that's fine, but no matter where the line is, people are going to toe it, and there are going to be blurry disputes around it.

I think when the tanking rules went away someone said (and it may have been our current commissioner) ‘whelp, someone is going to do whatever they want, and then we’ll have to re-vote’. I think that’s right. Why doesn’t someone write up a suggestion thread? I’d do it, but then people would vote against it #neverforgetamare

Scott said we would have a vote on it this week, so I'm not sure a write up is necessary, but I will be the first to say that I will absolutely vote to bring back anti tanking rules. There are other ways to lose in this game but you should play the best players the most minutes. I'd love to hear a counter argument.

I'm not necessarily opposed to this, but I've yet to hear the argument to counter. Why is it bad for the league (or at least more bad for the league) to have a <expletive deleted> up starting lineup but not a <expletive deleted> up gameplan?

I think both are equally shady and unethical imo but the game plan can be hidden from normal sight. You can't hide the minutes played and starters.

I’m not going to do an article on this, but what if we created a Tanking Board Committee. Where it would be a group of managers, voted on each year to preserve fairness, who would review a roster and decide if that this GM was attempting to blatantly cheat. The roster would be nominated to the committee by either someone on the board or another GM who feels they are tanking. It could also be a MLB style punishment where the severity of the rules depend on 1. How severe the tanking was, and 2. More severe each time they are caught?

Just my thought on a possible solution.

With all the talk about tanking, perhaps it's time to bring the idea of relegation out of Skype to the main forum.

Don't mind the idea of a council - perhaps serving for 3-5 season terms, just so we're not voting on membership EVERY year. As far as punishments, I think warnings are a good start, and escalating to something more significant...

I do agree with @garbageman that the debate on whether deliberate tanking actually hurts the league is an interesting one...

I’ve had a super guilty conscience about being less active, but I’m full on Homer Simpson here. Not about me. (Disappears into bushes)
