Vote Quailman!

- Improved Record by 3 wins (58 last year to 61 this year)
- Finished with 2nd best record not only in the East, but in the NBA
- Put together a team that brought hard nose, lockdown defense with balanced offense (2nd best point differential in league)
- Central Division Champion
- Brought back Luke Berryman, Kyle Anderson, and of course Ricky Rubio
- Added via trades - Charlie Matthews, Daniel West, Lavar Ball, Grizzlies 2024 1st
- Added via FA - Wilbert Paschall
- Departures from Last Season: Paul George, Russell Arciniega
- Maneuvered my team salary from 26 million over the cap to 8 million over without sacrificing team's overall depth and talent (successfully resetting my team's luxury tax repeater status)

I'll throw my name in this season.

Being a successful GM in this league requires many factors. One of them is luck, and I have definitely had my good share of that. But besides luck, two major qualities in being a successful GM are the ability to improve your team through trades and free agency and the ability to make the right gameplan decisions to put your team in the best position to succeed. I think this season has shown my ability to do both.

TEAM IMPROVEMENT

Last year I had one p/p player, two b/b players and the rest were y/y, and I finished with 48 wins. This year through trades I now have a starting lineup of one p/p and four b/b. I was able to make these trades without sending a first round pick and sacrificing future flexibility. With the players that I have acquired, I finished the season with 57 wins, an improvement of 9 from last season, and I finished as the 2nd best team in the West.

GAMEPLAN

I had an up-and-down season, or as up-and-down a 57 win campaign can be. I started off 19-4, then had a few bad sims where I let the Jazz overtake me for the division. But the decision I made to switch my gameplan made a big impact on my squad. How impactful? Before the change, I was 42-22, still behind the Jazz in the division race. After the change I finished 15-3, winning the division and unlocking a potential for this team to outperform my expectations.

I believe these two qualities are what makes a good GM, and I think I did a good job of showing my prowess in both. I don't always nominate myself for this award; I only do it when I think I have made a very good case. Hopefully this case is enough to convince you that I deserve consideration for GM of the Year.

I think this is False9's award to lose because of his savant-like ascension to the top rungs of the East despite no discernible talent to back it up. But in case you want an alternative, I think I've really done a good job this season.

I went from a team with almost no assets for next year to a team with a solid core, impending cap space, an extra pick in 2025, a playoff birth, AND a small likability boost league-wide for trading the Wizards pick back to them (although it was a win-win in my eyes, folks seem to think it was a nice thing to do).

Anyway, if you attribute the Magic's rise more to dumb luck #eureka than a brilliant master plan, consider me as an alternative!

I'm nominating myself for GMOY.

Before sim one, I was not quite sure what to expect. Towers, Faried, and Green had taken hits in training camp. Predrag Saric and Trae Young looked destined for another redshirt year. Sure, Scott Ramos had a nice little bump, and I would train Josh Jackson to being green current, but I'd already promised to trade Jeremy Lamb on day 60, so he was going straight to IR. The talent didn't look great- I had three green currents, one blue, and a sea of yellow on my roster page. But something kept nagging at me- the overall attributes look like they'd fit into a gameplan. "What's the harm in giving it a shot the first few sims? I can always deal the vets after a few sims if I look like garbage," I thought to myself.

After a 6-2 start, I let things ride all the way to 57 wins (a 37 win jump from last season!) and beat out the always tough Wig for the Division. I remained under the tax, and still have plenty of future assets to WHEEL AND DEAL.

If my words didn't convince you, check out these rave reviews from your fellow GMs-

Wignosy: Good job, Andy, for sticking with a team that I don't think most people gave a second thought to!

Iamquailman: Many felt the same... expectations were really low on them to start the season and they proved everyone wrong!

garbageman: "man, your record is still perplexing to me"
