We have 4 essentially inactive teams in the league right now: Thunder, Clippers, Warriors, and Knicks. Knicks have stewards because the GM stepped down, but the other 3 have been pretty neglected for the entirety of this season (Thunder haven't been online since 7/31, Clippers 8/5, Warriors 8/12.. probably to see they lost Tatum in UFA and were like well Frye this).
I was going to go about listing out reasons for each team, but I didn't want to come off as attacking or petty. That said, recruiting for the league is getting harder these days, and finding GMs to take over teams that are in less than desirable situations and proving to them that the league is worth waiting out a long rebuild (college draft residual we all know by now) is really hard to do.
So what I am proposing is contraction. Cutting the league down from 30 to a smaller number. I'm not talking like a massive cut down, or even cutting down 4 teams. I'm talking 1 or maybe 2 teams getting shut down so that we don't have to worry 2 teams with 70mil in cap space and 0 UFA bids. We had a league with 29 teams for 20-something seasons. Reverting back to that isn't something we would have a hard time adjusting to. Just change the Bobcats name to whatever team is contracted and move em back out west
And if any of the GMs of the teams I listed here read this by some chance, please feel free to post here and tell me to STFU. Maybe you had something going on in life, and that is 100% understandable. But all we ask of GMs in this league is DCs and off-season participation. DCs are the easy part honestly now with TV. Writing articles, doing Pick'Ems, volunteering for positions is not a requirement by any means.
