Good evening ladies and gentlemen, and welcome to Springfield, Massachusetts, the site of the Basketball Hall of Fame.
Tonight we are here to recognize a player who largely went overshadowed in his career. He was always a good, efficient scorer, but other players seemed to shine brighter. He played in the era of TMac and Duncan, so although he came close to an MVP on several occasions, he never took home the hardware. He did take home other impressive accolades, however: 7 All Star appearances, two PBSL First Team awards, 9 straight 20ppg seasons. And he was important as the franchise star of Indianapolis, choosing to end his career there after a brief stint in Cleveland. Paul Pierce was known for his old man game, his steady shooting presence, and his impressive efficiency. Welcome, Paul Pierce, to the Hall of Fame.
