Bucks 2020-21 Preseason Presser

Post by IamQuailman »

Welcome everyone! We have been slightly delayed in hosting our pre-season presser, in that it is now taking place a little bit AFTER the conclusion of pre-season... but that's okay! We here in Milwaukee have always been a little late to the party, but when we arrive, we like to make a splash.

Speaking of making splashes... what an off-season! WHEW! We unfortunately had to withstand another disappointing season last year; however, for our trouble, we were gifted the #2 overall pick in the draft!! While this past draft was touted as not a very strong one, we felt anywhere in the top 3 would land a very good player. Sitting pretty at #2, we had the privilege of bringing Devin Booker to our lockerroom. Devin is an athletic freak, and will only improve as he grows his game at the pro-level. During pre-season, he averaged 18.5ppg, 2nd in second behind our superstar Damian McNary. We look forward to Booker's immediate impact on the court this season.

With the draft, we had it easy, but the rest of the sculpting we had to do was through the trade market. We brought in a familiar face in Enes Kanter to anchor down low. It's funny how things work out. We really never wanted to part with Kanter as he has been the pride and joy of our newest media campaign, #MilwaukeeScouting. However, now that we have him next to the player we traded him for originally, our front court may be one of the best in the League. With his veteran leadership and knowledge of the game, we hope his presence will help Damian continue to take his game to another level. We didn't even stop there. At the cost of 2 players that we really liked in Desean Hawkins and Elfrid Payton (and Jamey Brown who we didn't NOT like), we brought in the stud forward utility man, Dario Saric. With his athleticism, length, and skillset, we are really excited with the options he gives us. He's penciled in at the starting 3 spot, but could easily float around where needed.

We have our sights set on being competitive this season, and while the Central is a bloodbath, we hope to make a little noise and re-insert ourselves back into the playoff picture after our short stint away. Any questions?

Has your red-hot preseason changed the outlook from "we hope to earn a playoff spot" to "we're gunning for a division title"?

With new faces such as Kanter in the mix, do you guys feel you'll make the playoffs this year, and if so, how far do you think you'll go?

After all the seasons in this league, I've learned to not put TOO much weight on pre-season results. They can be very misleading. We definitely will re-evaluate our goals come mid-December.

I think we could make the playoffs, but advancing would depend on the matchup. If we get a team that has some really good guard play, we would have some trouble.

Is there some concern there will be a disappointing start? We've heard rumors Kanter and Saric are already quietly being shopped.

Sham Smith, Bulls.com: How does playing in a division with far and away the best player in the league alter your job as a General Manager?

The frontcourt is set, but the backcourt needs some work. Your team is known for being active in the trade market, so can be expect the Bucks to acquire a PG before the deadline?

As many say, everyone in Milwaukee is on the block. Our phones are always open if calls come in. We always listen. We sometimes ask.

It makes you shift your focus in gameplanning and team building. Anthony Davis will now have to compete with a very tough offensive and defensive front court in Milwaukee. We may not be able to stop him, but we sure as hell won't make his life easy.

We are always listening, as I had just mentioned. We are confident in Rajon Rondo getting the start for us and bringing Ronald Small off the bench. We love his talent and his potential, but he needs just a little more grooming... who better to learn from than a consummate pro like Rajon Rondo. Rondo, despite his age, still has the athletic build and skills most point guards in this league crave for. He knows that scoring isn't his strong point, and honestly, we are hoping to not really have to rely on him for that.

Mitch Landrieu, nola.com: Simple question, is Ronald Small ready all the media attention he will get this season?

Are you still in your continuous rebuild mode?

How do you feel about the pelicans sweeping the Blazers in a loud ass SKC, couldn't hear at times all while Noah slept? Did the Pels bore Noah on Saturday?

Woody Paige, Denver Post: We've heard rumors of your ownership group's shadow ownership of a shell company that supplies short-term housing to tall families in Milwaukee. Can you confirm or deny the allegations that your wheeling-and-dealing ways are directly related to the growth of this short-term housing business?

Noah pulled a classic "got to hyped in the first half and burned out". What a n00b mistake! He will learn from this and improve next round when we sweep the Warriors

Next question.
