It's a wee-bit early, with 7 games left on the calendar, but Damion McNary has made his case for MIP and that shouldn't change over the last month of the season.

Image

As you can see below, he has taken his leap in his 5th season, posting career bests in multiple categories.

PPG: 13.7 -> 23.2 (+9.5)
RPG: 6.0 -> 8.9 (+2.9)
APG: 1.0 -> 1.5 (+0.5)
BPG: 1.4 -> 2.1 (+0.7)
FG%: 54.6 -> 55.3 (+0.7)
PER: 19.5 -> 23.4 (+3.9)

He made his first all-star game and could potentially be slated for his first All-League bid. While he is still growing, he's becoming a force in the league and winning despite the team around him (currently at 18 wins, McNary's Estimated Wins Added (EWA) is a whopping 15.2. He basically put this team on their back. Without him, they'd have maybe 2 wins this season.

Please take Damion into consideration when casting your vote, as he truly is the most improved player in the league this season.

EDIT: HE MADE ALL LEAGUE 3RD TEAM

Bojan Bogdonovic

As an out of position SG, Bojan is averaging his highest points per game in his career. He went from a role player to a primary option for this Heat team. Truly the team leader, the rest of the team looks for his leadership on and off of the court. His main increase has been in points per game (16.3-->22.5). However, the advanced analytics show the greater story. His boost in PER (16.4-->19.4), VA (204.1-->398.6), and EWA (6.8-->13.3) have all increased this year.

Vote for the biggest surprise of the season. Vote Bojan.

Chet Dooley
Big time minutes increase, fouls went down, usage went WAY up, top 3 in Assists, top 15 in steals, 3p% stellar, really earning that shitty max I had to pay.

Chet Dooley is your M.I.P.
6 Rings. That's it. That's the tweet.

Nikola Jokic

All Star Game. All League First Team. Increased production in Points, Rebounds, Assists, and Blocks... finally doesn't foul like a mad man. On a team that exceeded expectations by even myself.

Patrick Riordan

Who? Exactly!!! Let's remind everyone of what Steven A Smith said last season on First Take...
"Skip, I believe that you are high as a kite if you think the Suns are contenders. The Suns don't have a point guard! You think PATRICK RIORDAN is going to lead these guys to a championship!?!? HAHAHAHA!"

Now, he may or may not lead the suns to a championship, but he is the point guard on the Western conference's number 1 seed. He scores over 17 ppg, 4.5 rebounds, 1.3 steals, and 4.2 assists a game. This point guard who was cut from a franchise just 3 years ago is now one of the major factors in the sun's quest for a championship.

I nominate Boris Hailey of my Houston Rockets

In 2018, he was struggling as a backup. Poor shooting across the board

Season LGE TEAM G GS MIN PTS ORB DRB AST TO A/T STL BLK PF FG% FT% 3P%
2018 PBSL CHB 41 9 17.9 4.3 1.6 3.6 2.0 1.3 1.62 0.3 1.1 1.1 .386 .667 .250

Season LGE TEAM TS% PPS AST TO USG ORR DRR RR PER VA EWA +/- OEFF DEFF
2018 PBSL CHB .429 0.93 24.6 15.2 15.0 9.6 21.5 15.7 12.2 17.9 0.6 -2.3 104.0 111.2

http://pbsl.ijbl.net/2018/players/player394.htm

After signing with me this offseason, he had a great TC and had a breakout season.

Season LGE TEAM G GS MIN PTS ORB DRB AST TO A/T STL BLK PF FG% FT% 3P%

2019 PBSL HOU 82 82 33.1 10.6 3.3 7.0 3.6 2.0 1.84 0.7 2.8 1.8 .482 .576 .314
2018 PBSL CHB 41 9 17.9 4.3 1.6 3.6 2.0 1.3 1.62 0.3 1.1 1.1 .386 .667 .250

Increase in FG% and 3-point shooting, assist to turnover ration.

Season LGE TEAM TS% PPS AST TO USG ORR DRR RR PER VA EWA +/- OEFF DEFF

2019 PBSL HOU .516 1.13 22.7 12.4 16.4 10.3 24.1 16.9 18.3 274.9 9.2 -0.1 103.4 103.8
2018 PBSL CHB .429 0.93 24.6 15.2 15.0 9.6 21.5 15.7 12.2 17.9 0.6 -2.3 104.0 111.2

Huge increases in Total shooting, points per shot, turnover ration, rebounding rate, PER.

He's been a huge part of the Rockets surprising season as his season is a huge surprise as well winning MIP in the game and All-Defense Second team.

So please consider Boris Hailey as your Most improved player.
