Remove 60-day Trade Restriction Rule

Post by WigNosy »

I'm not in favor of doing this, necessarily, but due to the number of players that have been offered on the trade block, only to be forced off because the 60-day wait happens a few days after the trade deadline, I think it's worth opening up for discussion.

This proposal would do away with the 60-day trade restriction rule entirely, including both off-season signings and trades. If a player is under contract for your team, regardless of when you acquired him (off-season FA, just traded for him, whatever), you can trade him at any time prior to the trade deadline. No more waiting for 60 days to expire.

Note: This proposal does NOT apply to RFAs. You would still have to wait one year after signing/matching to trade them.

I'll never be able to vote for this. Just no way this should become a ting.

*shrugs*

Like I said in the opening post, I'd vote "no" as well, but I think we've had at least 3 players offered up for trade that I can think of that had to come back off the block due to the 60-day rule. I figured it might be something people wanted to discuss.

I just sum it up to some of the newer'ish members of the league forgetting about the players they just acquired/instant regret after 2-3 sims of what's happened.

Unless I'm mistaken it's been a byline that the game software doesn't allow for a player to be dealt after immediately being acquired.

I vote yes. Love proposals that add to the general activity of a league. Plus, it's a nice benefit for gms who inherit crappy teams.

There is a toggle within the game to apply the 60-day rule or not. Currently it's set to "on" but could just as easily be set to "off."
