Miami Heat Preseason Press Conference

Post by logpmess »

Welcome everyone.

Going into last year we found an opportunity to skip a rebuild and try to compete with older players. We acquired Rudy Gay, Chris Paul, and re-signed Greg Oden. With three big pieces, we felt we could compete for at least the playoffs. Those players did not gel at all. We traded away Oden to cut below the salary cap. After the salary cap dump, our team played better and lost our high potential lottery pick.

We found a way to get two draft picks back to back. We drafted young and plan to do a bit of a rebuild. We still found in FA that we had the cap room to sign some good players. At the opportunity to sign Steven Adams, we jumped on it quickly. We see him as a potential building piece on a friendly salary. Other than him, we signed a bunch of veteran guys on two year team option deals. We don't expect to pick up any of those options, and all of those players are on the trade block.

I plan to start as many three point shooters as possible with Adams playing at center. Here is my starting lineup:
C- Adams
PF - Beasley
SF - Parsons
SG - Bogdonovic
PG - Paul

Our expectations are to win some games but probably not a playoff team.

With that I will open up the floor to some questions.

What are your expectations for your two rookies, Joshua Swan and Timothy Pulley?

Pulley is going to ride the bench due to depth in the post. Swan is going to have a lot of playing time as a backup due to lack of depth at guard. We may be looking into a free agent if Swan isn't quite ready.
